  • FF14 going F2P

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Everybody knew it before it launched, and it launched anyway. It was a predictable trainwreck, yet it's still there. Sometimes, I don't understand why businesses do this.

Well, hey, APB is already done-zo. Did better than that... Bright side?

This is Square-Enix. Comparing some two-bit company to them and said MMO launches is laughable. That being said, Square-Enix doesn't know shit about MMOs, and apparently, continues to not listen or not learn from their mistakes.

They'll probably write this off to a bunch of Americans whining about nothing. Or say, "Well, we thought the stupid Americans wouldn't like the game, but apparently, the Japanese don't, either."

Yeah, they never ever stand up and say "hey, that American had a good idea, maybe we should use it". Look at all the flak Kojima and Inafune got for even suggesting the Americans could possibly have had better ideas than the locals

From what I can tell APB borrowed a bunch of money and didn't have the subs they thought they were going to have to repay the debt so they shut down. If the publisher actually had money it'd still be alive today. Square-enix hasn't had a single monthly charge for FF14 but they can clearly afford to sink money in, especially since it's a FF game.

Square-enix reminds me of Sony a lot with their business decisions. I usually like both company's products, but they make the strangest and boneheaded moves at time, that im frequently baffled how they stay in business. Blizzard and Apple are like the polar opposites.

It is really my hope that Square stops sinking resources into these types of games. Also that they start making real Final Fantasy games again.

APB also apparently took a LONG time in production.

I'd love to see them start charging for this in the future.

"Ok guys, our game was shitty for a long time, but now...now it's better, we need you to cough up $15 a month to keep goin!"

Unless they do something that's never been done it'll either take up microtransactions or utterly fail.

The best suggestion I've seen is shut the game down for a few month and relaunch it as FF15.

How about NEVER MAKE A MMO AGAIN? That's a great suggestion.

Yeah some companies just need to stop making MMORPGs.

So, their shitty game delays a potential good game. Lovely. Thanks, Square-Enix, ya fucking shit sandwich!

Well, hopefully, this will make the game that much better, so I guess I don't mind too much.
