I've dropped dozens of hours into Audiosurf so I'm partial to adding that to my personal list, otherwise I agree with you Sine.

Hold on, are we talking about downloadable or indie? Major difference

Most Indie games end up downloadable.

It won't. It never will. It's a X360 only release.

However, I really wish Winterbottom would come out with a soundtrack. The music is wicked awesome. The guy who the music for World of Goo did put out his music for download, however. In fact, I can find the soundtrack for most of the games listed here, including Cave Story, Darwinia, Plants vs. Zombies, and Soulcaster.

Just realized that Winterbottom is on steam so i'll have to grab that this weekend. Even though i think it is retarded when games or movies have names like Magical McFloo and the Bubaloo Magoo. I mean Winterbottom, seriously? and he eats delicious pie? Can this be any more nerd?

As for the rest of your list, i loved world of goo, braid, and plants vs zombies. I have not played any of the others besides Audiosurf, which i thought was just ok.

Yeah, Winterbottom has some masterful puzzle design and a nice soundtrack. The mood with the graphics is pretty neat, too. It's also the only game I can have claimed to have received all of the achievements for. Can't even say that for games like Braid or Bioshock.

Winterbottom is certainly one of my favourite downloadable games. A steal when it dropped to 400 points.

Bioshock 1 has 1 very-hard-to-get hidden achievement: beat the game on hard without dying. Nearly impossible unless you are REALLY careful. I have 6 games with full achievements:

- Ms Pac Man
- Doritos Tools of Destruction
- Call of Duty 2
- Call of Duty 4
- Resident Evil 5 (I have 1000 which doesn't include the downlodable stuff 'cause I haven't paid for them)
- Dead Space Ignition (on PS3)

No, it's not. Just save often. And I think that was Bioshock 2. Anyway, the only reason why I didn't get everything on Bioshock 1 was because some stupid tape just disappeared on me. I played it on the first run, but on this second run, it was just gone.

Brass Balls was the hidden achievement in #1. That's why it has 1040 achievement points instead of the usual 1000. That and beating it on hard are the only achievements I don't have for #1

That's odd that it disappeared for you, some odd glitch. My cuz and I were actively lookin' for them during our first run through and ended up with 115 of the 122. We just used a guide for the last 7 before we beat the game

Actually, it's 1100 points, and they can only get away with it because it's tied to a (free) DLC package.

PB is pretty fun. Glad its only $5 since im at the last level in just a few hours, but i have yet to do any of the challenges. Five bucks for an afternoon of entertainment is well worth it, though, id spend more than that at a bar or at a movie for the same amount of time wasted.

Yeah, it ends up being about 5-6 hours total when you add the challenges. Not a great length, but neither was Portal, and everybody raved about it.

And speaking of Indie games, some Steam prices for these games as of today:

Braid - $5
World of Goo - $10 (full price; might go down; see below)
PB Winterbottom - 50 CENTS! GET IT NOW!
Cave Story - It's free, just download it at the official site. (Though, the Wii version is $10, I think.)
Limbo - XBLA only
Darwinia - $5
Shank - $10 (was $15)
Defense Grid: The Awakening - $10 (full price; might come down this week)
Audiosurf - $10 (full price; might go down; see below)
Plants Vs. Zombies - $6

These games go up and down in price over throughout the last couple of weeks, including this week's daily specials, so you can probably just wait out some of the other games and buy them tomorrow or Weds. But, for god's sake, don't miss the Winterbottom deal.

Also, there is this pack that has Audiosurf, Braid, World of Goo, Osmos, and a few other games for $20.

i HATE it when steam is so busy you cant install a game. Def the biggest gripe i have with digital distribution through Steam.

I can count on one hand the amount of times Steam has been too busy to process a game download request for more than minute. You should try switching to another region in options if this is really plaguing you.

Remember when I said the humble bundle #2 was dope? Well it done just got doper. Now it gives you the ability to redeem these games over steam (as well as download them untethered), AND now they are giving away the original humble bundle to those who bought #2 with the steam integration. You guys are dumb for not buying this bundle which is (at minimum) $1.

Winterbottom is 50 cents again until noon tomorrow. So get it if you didn't get it (for practically free) the first time. Machinarium is $3.

They also have a good chunk of the other indie games for $5, including Defense Grid, Darwinia, Braid, Audiosurf, BIT.TRIP BEAT, Beat Hazard, etc.

Man, Super Meat Boy is really annoying. They expect you to die a zillion times until you can get the precise controlling down, but in the meantime i want to pound my keyboard, haha.

You are bad at games if you are a)playing meat boy with your keyboard or b) are bad at meat boy.

Yeah i dont have a USB controller for the computer and havent played a game, before this one, where one was advantageous. I prefer a keyboard and mouse for my games which is why i purchase only computer games and dont have a console after PS2, however meat boy was def made for a controller.

Im not bad at it! I win eventually, just die a lot since it is much harder to be precise with the arrow keys. So go eat a dick, lol, i could work you at counter strike, console boy, since you wont have your magical auto-aim to save your skin. ;)

Yeah, for those type of games, I play with the 360 controller, using the wireless adaptor for the PC. Though, I wonder if games like Winterbottom or Braid play well enough on keyboard, since I've gifted those (among others) to other people.

Sine, the guy who did Breath of Death just released a spiritual successor called Cthulhu Saves the World. Same style, humour's even a bit sharper. Priced a little higher at 240 points but you may be interested in it if you liked Breath of Death.

On the contrary, I think five hours is a great lenth for a game, particularly one which focuses on puzzles. It's nice to play a game that I know I'm going to finish without spending a few months playing it.

Limbo was a nice fun short puzzle game. Not sure its worth the $10 i paid, but def worth half that. What was missing were story elements, it felt very Braid'ish, but the mysterious books in Braid to read really added to the atmosphere. In Limbo, i really got tense during the moments you glimpsed other humans, but they never implemented a system to elaborate on what was going on... Opportunity missed.

With the little indoe puzzle games becoming its own niche, i found i ran through this game pretty easily after being trained by games like Braid, Winterbottom, etc. Wonder if they will release a sequel?

Both BoD:VII and Cthulhu saves the world are on steam (as of July) for 2.99 for the bundle. I havnt played either, so this is more exciting than even the new Deus EX release.

Ive been playing this lately and really like it, too. The very unique art and music style is refreshing.
Spoiler: show
The weapons challenges are freaking hard. I have only been able to fully beat the arrow and shield ones. The repeater crossbow challenge seems impossible to me, I'm not sure how I can move any faster. As far as story, i think i have one or two more cores to find and the plot is still not very clear to me. I like the narration, but i hope some questions get answered! What i found weird, the Kid moves fast while going up, but he is pretty slow all around and it is the only aggravating aspect of the game so far.
