Picked up close to 10" of snow at my house in STL. They were prediciting no more than 5". Dug out yesterday, going to work today. Another major storm headed in on Sunday-Monday.

I'm aware, we're supposed to get more snow tonight (1-3in) and then another storm system moves in on Sunday/Monday. I don't think it has snowed this much since 1982.

And my city is freaking out about the 3 inches we got. School closed Thursday and Friday.

If you changed the word "inches" to "feet", the people in Toronto would close the schools but that's about it

Yes, we get it Zeus. But the infrastructure and trees of certain states aren't built for as much snow as they're getting and shit gets fucked up quick. Follow that with the fact that states don't appropriate correct funding for emergency weather conditions and response times get fucking stupid.

Oh, I know, I'm just teasin'. Even up here where we're used to snow if there's 3 or 4 inches the entire world slows down to a crawl. They don't close down schools but every single person becomes late for work, there's a huge spike in accidents, etc., particularly in the Toronto area where the commuters are stupid normally. I can't imagine what it's like for municipalities that aren't used to it, it's like a natural disaster, and that's no exaggeration.

Many people don't know how to deal with it and instead of being careful they continue as if everything was normal. Good things rarely result. I'd prefer a crawl over the risk.
