This is a pretty neat Youtube video showing just how derivative music is nowadays.

On a side note: you can apply this same basic philosophy to make a Hollywood movie; that whole "formulaic" crap I keep talking about

Looked like he was writing lyrics and reading them off of it. As opposed to paper I guess...
