  • I got a job as a game tester!  Maybe...  (btw for those who haven't caught all three of my posts over the last month, this is/was Mental)

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: justify; '>For a company that makes cell phone games. I got an interview yesterday and the guy offered me a job right there. I said I needed some time to think about it, and he said that was fine...so I thought about it. For about an hour.

I e-mailed him back yesterday and said I wanted the job. Haven't heard back from him yet. This doesn't worry me too much.

This would be so cool. (Visions of himself actually going to E3 as an industry person instead of a party-crashing fanboy dance in Andrew's head.)</div>

<div style='font: italic bold 14pt ; text-align: center; '>I did it with Crystal Dynamics back when they were based out of here. I hope you don't get stuck with what I had to. My god I had to test out some of the worst games imaginable. Think about it this way, For every Viewtiful Joe Quality game there is there are about a thousand more that suck more balls than the Seeker if he were trapped inside of Nintendos boardroom. I got stuck with all the shitty ass games. Hopefully you get something that doesn't suck now and then because man I quit after a month. Just think of playing a barbie video game for 10 hours straight. ICK! just pray to god you get some good projects

Sorry just gotta be bluntly honest. Worst job I ever had. Even worse than telemarketing cause at least there I got to have some fun with poeple over the phone when they started getting snippy</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Yeah, I know it's funny cause I actually had a conversation with one of the review crew over at EGM, said the same damn thing, and it's even worse for them, because they have to play those games they give 1.0s to the fullest.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: justify; '>1. It beats the hell out of filing for eight hours straight (my last job). At least with this job I am going to interact with other people, have conversations, be involved in some sort of process, and probably have something in common with my co-workers. At my last job I had nothing in common with anyone there.

2. Crappy games...well, yeah, that will suck. But at worst I'll be bored, which, again, was a given at my last job, and the jury is out on how often that will happen here.

3. It is a chance to pick up some valuable experience in the industry. It is not easy to break into, from all I hear, and it could help me out later on if I decide later to pursue a video game programming job.

Besides which, there's no reason to assume crappiness without actually showing up to see. Who knows? I may like it, I may hate it, it may fall somewhere in the middle. I knew getting into it that I would not be playing Double Dash all day (especially on a cell phone). Possibly there will be good games and bad games and mediocre games and what have you. Bottom line is, I have no idea what's going to happen. And maybe you're right, maybe I was getting a little too excited. But it has potential at least. Besides, without a degree what are my other options?

a. Drive Bus
b. File Clerk
c. Retail Establishment (10 hrs/wk)
d. ???

So, I believe this is a positive for me.</div>
