Only Mavericks are playing anything that resembles team basketball, though to be fair the Heat was never about team basketball on the offense. I know people will say 'defense wins championship' but teams choking away large leads in 4th quarter by playing 1 on 1 basketball isn't defense. Throughout the playoffs it feels like the team that wins is the team that chokes the least. Hopefully in the Finals we won't have to see teams chocking 10-15 point lead in under 5 minutes to go. I think the sophistication of the defenses in NBA are too good for its own good. Right now it seems like if you can't draw fouls you just get stopped cold by defense unless you're Dirk Nowitski who can pretty much score no matter how he is covered. The recent rule changes favor slashers and I think they need to make rules that favor shooters but not slashers. I know NBA is tough to referee but it's really lame when you see one guy just keep on drive into the lame and get 25 free throws, and that's a perfectly good strategy since unless you're Dwight Howard, your free throw % is got to be better than your shooting %. But it's really boring basketball and it leads to all kinds of conspiracy theory talks.
