HBO Go wont load for me, must be flooded with people trying to watch episode 7.

Its pretty annoying when something like this is advertised so heavily, they know their servers will be hit hard, and yet they still arent ready for it. What a let down, guess ill watch tomorrow. ONE WHOLE DAY AWAY. How will i live?

You realize that by watching episode seven you have to wait an extra week for extra content? Give it a day or three at least :P

Yeah I think Im going to wait. 1 week is bad enough for a new episode, let alone 2.

I know this is a bit late, but I've been really wondering just how they are pulling off some of these acting stunts, especially with episode 5. For one, there's a full on sex scene with one of the Stark brothers and a hooker flame of his. Now, in most scenes like this, the guy's wearing a "cock sock", since movies will show all the tits and ass we want, but never a dick. In this case, HBO just said "fuck it", and there's his pecker fully exposed. No cock sock in play. So, did they just film them actually having sex or just pretending to have sex with absolutely no protection between them?

A horse's head got decapitated in this episode, too, but that was probably just good CGI.

The other scene that I wondered about is when they first meet Lysa in the mountains with her son, sucking on her tit. So, here we have 11-year-old actor sucking on some other chick's boob, probably trying to hide the biggest chumby he'll ever have for a while. Is it real, or is it some CGI boob, or just some plastic work?

No Sine, they weren't actually having sex. :P

Yes, the Horse being decapitated was CGI

And no, that wasn't a real tit.

Yeah, not having sex and the penis wasn't erect so filming it isn't that big of a deal. An unbroken shot doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't thrown aside or whatever. Tricks of the trade and effects explain the breast and horse decapitation. Basically no one would have anything to do with a show where they're actually killing animals, especially horses. Even more so when they have to do that particular chop a dozen times, from different angles. Animal rights groups would be all over that shit before you even had a chance to shoot.

Also, that wasn't one of the Stark brothers. That was Theon Greyjoy, Eddard Stark's ward.

To Sine's credit those actors can be REALLY difficult to discern when they're operating individually. 50% of the time unless it's one of his "I'M JUST A WARD GUYS, STOP IT!" scenes I usually passively think of him as being a brother. It's a credit to the caster being able to choose people who could be related to each other (although NONE of them look like they could have ANY relation to Bean), but the biggest issue I've taken with the show is that it jumps around from character to character (admittedly like the book) and it's hard to get the faces of certain characters that haven't done anything memorable yet.

Nah, that wasn't a jab at Sine. I was just being helpful and informative. :) I imagine most non-book readers don't realize exactly who Theon is in the show right now.

I honestly thought they would nix trying to explain the finer minor character details like the hound and the mountain's brotherly non-love and how Theon is a only a ward at Winterfell, etc. As a fan, i'm impressed they are including almost everything in the books in the series, but i can sure understand the confusion it would cause. There is a lot going on.

For those of us who haven't read the books, it's nearly impossible to get a good chunk of the depth with the secondary characters. I had a bud of mine explain to me all the background stuff during the first ep and there was absolutely no way I could have known even half of the extra stuff. It's really for the fans of the books, not for the newcomers.

So far, it hasn't interfered with the plot progression or made it feel like you don't know as the viewer, so no real issues....yet

Multiple books spoilers and Episode 7 on HBO go that hasnt aired:
Spoiler: show
Man, Drogo's speech at the end of EP7 (the one this Sunday they posted on HBOgo) gave me chills and wished he didnt actually die. Now, I think having the Dothroki invade would have been much cooler than killing him off and having Dany wander around the free cities forever recruiting an army ball'less warriors.

That's silly. They're just using her as a way to give background information. They've used her for Tyrion, Theon, and, based on the previews, Littlefinger. Whores are something all of them have in common. haha

Shes def gotten a lot of air time, i feel. She is in the books, but her role is expanded, thats for sure.

Whats a little odd is that i feel like this series has turned into a 'two characters giving information per scene, then switch to two more characters giving information.' kind of show. With as much as they are trying to cover i guess it is the only viable way, but compared to other shows, this is the most two characters conversing type show ive ever seen.

Completely agree, I got chills and even teared up a little, knowing what would happen to Drogo and Dany's child. I loved that scene in the book and it played well on tv, I don't know what happens in the 2nd book yet, but I love the Dothraki and I was really looking forward to Drogo and Dany being together and clashing with the 7 Kingdoms. I'm not looking forward to the inevitable at the end of the TV series, well except for Dany's last act.

Series/book spoiler regarding last nights episode.
Spoiler: show
Am I wrong or did that scene with Drogo and the Lamb people go completely differently? I thought Drogo was injured during the confrontation with the Lamb people, not by one of the warriors? Also wasnt the injury a lot worse than the show depicted? Otherwise why would he need a "healer" with a tiny cut? It kind of felt weird for that reason, especially with how things turn out.

Book spoilers, sorry i suck.
Spoiler: show
Youre right, i think he gets the wound from killing another khal. In the show he basically cuts himself on the guys sword, which is pretty silly, and it does look like a tiny cut. I expected something deeper and bleeding more. However, dont forget that it isnt the cut that kills him, but that witch woman's 'healing' that does. I think it actually is spelled out in the books that Mirri, i think her name is, basically festered the wound on purpose?

GRRM wrote this latest episode and i really liked it. Lots of jumping around again, but it was great to see Rob grow up, Tyrion's face before seeing his father, and the Syrio scene left it open for him to be alive, which is speculated at in the books, too. Lots of little good stuff, like the Sir Barristan scene, too! I might be reading too far into it, but the Song of Ice and Fire / Rhaegar + Lyanna rape = John might have been hinted at as they cut away from the wall and to Dany. That would make Dany his aunt, and Targayens often marry within the family, hmmm.

I liked the scene with Bran and the wildling woman where she says they should all be marching north and NOT south. The south having no idea what kind of shitstorm is brewing not only up beyond The Wall but also across the sea is fantastic.

The best non-reader comment ive heard so far was last night from a friend who told me his favorite part so far was the scene where the guy from the nights watch volunteers to champion for Tyrion. Guh. The guy is just a random sellsword, but it wasnt worth explaining in a loud bar so i let it slide and dont think that detail really matters too much.

Random sellsword is a bit much. Bronn's a pretty popular character. Or was it the night watch comment that irritated you? :p

I watched all 10 eps since you guys talked it up here.

Good first season, if a little sex-heavy. I'm a little worried that last scene writes some Special Effects cheques a TV series can't possibly cash, but I guess we will see in Season 2...which is in 2012....lame.
