Me Three! It does look pretty neat. I like how NPR compared google to that Math wiz who is somewhat socially awkward when describing google's attempts at taking a peice of the facebook pie.

To invite, you have to create a new circle and add people to it. Then post to the "Stream" so that circle can see it. Make sure the box is checked to notify those people by email. When you post, they will get an email and they can click the link to view your post. From there, they can join. I believe they need to have Gmail addresses though.

It's well organized and it's simpler, but at this point I can't see Facebook going down for any reason.

Friends and I had a long chat about this at lunch today. One of them being a former MySpace employee. We actually think Google+ will takeout facebook.

Google+ treats people like adults. I can separate work groups and friends much easier. (yes facebook has list, but those were added during the development cycle later on)

Google+ has the magic of hindsight.

And none of those shitty applications and I can pile all the people I don't actually want around into circles that I basically ignore. It also looks like it'll be easier to manage for actors (minor-ish) establishing fan bases who still want the same account to be attached to family and actual friends.

I don't know that Google+ will take out Facebook completely (at least not for a while), but I think it'll become a really nice alternative and will continue to gain popularity.

Im not sure what to do with my google+ right now. It seems redundant to run both it and facebook, but i'll give it a whirl for a while. All the people doing stuff on google + are the ones who dont post anything on facebook. I think they enjoy the smaller crowd? I dont know.

My grandparents use MySpace to hook up with other old people. My parents use FaceBook to condemn Obama and post pictures of NASCAR events.

Google+ is a god send. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm mostly talking about people who invite me to their crappy bands gigs and farmville to the point where it's just insane.

I thought circles would be cool, but i find im putting everyone in my friends circle because its too hard to categorize how i know and interact with people. Plus, i just dont give a shit. Why would i want to make a post to just half my 'friends'? On Facebook, for example, if a comment doesnt pertain to you you will just ignore it anyways, it takes 2 milliseconds. Using G+ has made me realize i just want to post ridiculous comments and pictures and have people laugh and reply to them. I also want to be able to make and reply to events and party invites. Facebook will always have a bigger audience for things like that.

What really do you want out of a social website? G+ feels like a nerd emporium where nerds feel like they can finally post stuff without fear of ridicule. All my G+ feed is from nerds who dont post anything on Facebook, why do they want to suddenly have a voice on a smaller social network? I dont get it. In fact, on G+ i get the even more mundane postings from these nerds like 'Went to Safeway today for chips ahoy! Hope G+ blows up!". No, nerd, you dont hope G+ blows up because then everyone would tell you they will beat your face if you post about your grocery trip again, just like they probably do on Facebook which prevents you from posting that same exact line on Facebook.

The only thing about Facebook i find tiring is all the posts from bands, groups, and games that clutter my feed. I know you can block these, but i would rather have a separate feed altogether for them, because i possibly might want to read that stuff to find out when a concert is coming to town, etc. Some bands post soooo much crap, though, its ridiculous, more so than games. On the other hand, i dont mind information overload from friends posting stuff, i can quickly and easily sort through what i find interesting, there is no need for circles or lists. G+ is a ghost town where people like tech bloggers have the most followers.

If the security and ease of use is better then i hope G+ does supplant Facebook, because then it will act just like FB, but with more security.

I completely agree with Flip.

I look at + on occasion, but then I find myself going back to Facebook to see "what's going on".

Well, let's slow down a bit and remember that G+ literally opened to the public like a week ago. haha Expecting it to become the ultimate social media site in a week is silly. If you're not into playing with it, that's cool. Personally, I'm enjoying using something that's not as crowded as FB (yet?) and I really like the layout and features. I've been posting certain things to G+and certain things to FB.

I started using Huddles today and they are sweet. I can see them being very useful if you have a group of people getting together for a movie or dinner or something.

I think that G+ will eventually get more people, but Flip said something similar to what I was thinking. Despite many people's dislike of Facebook's completely open model (there are ways to restrict access, but it's baroque and few use it), I think that it may prove to be more popular. It's simpler, for one. I think many people may not like having to decide who to say things to. I know that I've already made awkward decisions about who goes in what circles.

I think I've said this here before, but my Facebook page is open to everyone, including people I'm not friends with. I find that model easier to deal with. All I have to do is ask myself, am I comfortable sharing this with the world? I don't share much, but I also have few surprises.

Hey Flip and Michelle,

In facebook, after you file people in to lists, you can only show feeds from those people.

In the photo below, in my FB, I have about 10 lists. If you just want a band feed, make a list that is just bands, and make another list as "Actual People" so when you want to look at just your friends, select the list "actual people" if you want just bands, select "Just bands." After you sort them and select your lists, only the people in those lists will populated your feed.

Google is going to shut down Buzz to focus on +, i read someplace. This is a shame because I always have my gmail up while at work and some of my friends do actually use Buzz as a form of makeshift forum to post stuff and laugh our way through the work day. The fact that it is located right there under your inbox made it very easy, convenient and fun. Going to a social site to do the same thing, wont be the same thing. People are particular about what they post on FB and +, so you dont get as many of the random funny articles or bullshit jokes. Plus, you have to wade through all the meaningless posts to find the gems, which wasnt the case with my friends on Buzz.
