I will buy any game with Deus Ex in the title until they literally attempt to shit upon my face.

The trailers are amazing but I'd like to hear more about the game before I make a purchasing decision

There's been a preview in PC Gamer about the gameplay and it has a developer playing through the same level using dialog, stealth, and overt violence to go through it. It's cool stuff. The mod where you can see through the wall and then use a strength mod to punch through it to kill them is definitely there. You can also use a strength mod to basically move cover (i.e. bundled crates) into a better firing position. The previewer also said something about the guns being really cool.

Yeah Deus Ex was the first to allow you to complete missions how you'd like (stealth, violence, technology, etc) so I hope they'd take that to the Nth degree in the next one.

I am somewhat worried about the ending. How many ways can a prequel end when the main character isn't mentioned ever again? Here's hoping their writers are more imaginative than I.

Beta build of the partial game leaked today and from what I've heard it sounds fun as hell. It's a return to rewarding exploration and the cover system sounds intelligently implemented. Even though the leak is blue balls-ing me it seems a little silly to steal a game (or even a beta build) that I've been planning on buying since it was a few pieces of concept art and some paragraphs. There's some bitching about the graphics but consdering the downloads are less than half of the as of now recommended HD space and are reportedly not even finished this point seems moot.

Hmm some of the textures in that video certainly look unfinished/unpolished. I can see where the complaints are from but I wouldn't mind if it for the most part released that way. Deus Ex isn't about being pretty for the most part and there are plenty of effects that still wow me in their promos.

PC Gamer mag came in the mail today. Gave it a 94/100. Excited for the release next week.

This game is so good that even if it had one hundred hours of story it would still be disappointing for it to end. I'm calling GOTY even with TOR coming out.

Do you need to play the originals to play the new one? I have the first one through Steam, but I've never gotten a chance to play it.

No. Other than some winks at the original it is its own game. The music is better if you realize how great of a job they did off building from the themes of the original, too.

Also I just beat it today. Took about twenty hours but these types of games are what I'm best at. Well thought out multiple endings, although gaining access to the multiple endings seems too simple to me.

PC Edition is the best. Deus Ex started on PCs! ^_^

Yeah, it isn't a terribly done cross platform monster. There's some clicking annoyances in, say, the inventory and hacking minigame but they're as annoying as, say, gnats during a honeymoon? I dunno, I'm on strong pain relief for my surgery recovery and I wanted a metaphor.

Beat it on the hardest difficulty while also getting the achievements for not killing a single person (not counting bosses) and not setting off a single alarm. I think this is the way to play the game even if you're only playing it the one time. The only difficulty is that you have to get through the tutorial without killing anyone, which involves knowing the stealth and movement system much better than I did my first time through.
