If the gameplay is even halfway decent I'm sold. The lighting and the way the aliens move and the guns are damn near perfect/faithful to the source material.

I want it to be good, I really, really do. And with Gearbox doin' it, I have strong hopes. But I still will have to wait for the reviews.

Anything that was promised from Gearbox regarding preservation of story, character, or gameplay is not present in A:CM. The E3 2011 demo is a different (perhaps better) game. The final 2013 release of the game is an unpolished buggy mess and a completely average COD clone. There's literally nothing special about the whole game. The best mission of the entire 5 hour playtime is when you don't have a gun. Also, the game should be titled 'Colonial Marines with Aliens' as your battle is never truly about fighting the creatures, as it's battling the corporation and getting revenge. The Aliens just get in the way of this.

Disappointing. I really did hope it would be great considering how much I liked the Borderlands games....and Duke Nukem Forever :-)

Yeah, except Gearbox didn't do it. They just slapped their name on it. They are outsourcing a lot, and it's really screwing up their rep.

It takes you a minute to realize what is going on, but when you do, you say the same thing Gabe does.

Every PC Gamer preview I read of it seemed like it translated to "Kind of cool, but ____________" in every paragraph, to the point where my interest zeroed out. Any press preview that doesn't read like a really awesome features list with maybe one or two "They need to fix this and they say they're on it" sentences really reads like "This is going to be absolute garbage." And this game read like that.

Also the demo in my first post, that awesome video showing off how cool the game could have been? That's not in the game at all, that's something they made specifically for E3 that year, fuck you Gearbox.

If this doesn't make Gearbox wake the fuck up and say "Our business model is totally shit, and we need to make our own games!", then they are completely lost.

Let hope this is the last time they outsource anything ever again.

I don't recall any company doing that for a game. Ever. Maybe MS and their jury-rigged console, but at least it played real games.

I'm really curious why the Wii U version was delayed. They may be doing a Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge thing where they massively clean it up for the later release then port it back later? That may happen

And those demos came from somewhere. They probably just didn't have time to fix it up "properly" to release under Sega's timeline. The Wii U release, if it happens, will tell more of this story. This has become a colossal fuck-up of epic proportions and it ain't over yet

The full version of that Demo/Final comparison is very telling:

Never heard of a fuck up of this magnitude since that Kane & Lynch / Gerstmann debacle. Also,

Why? Well, from that SEGA tester source:

Oh wow. Yes okay. I was hoping someone would ask this. I have played the WiiU version. The one that is supposedly the best of all of them? It is not. It is the worst. It is a bit of a joke. The WiiU is basically the same game as the console version but with framerate issues, worse texture loading, and horrendously misguided minigames thrown in. You get a 'scanner' to scan enemies and get bonus points that aid your harming them. When you cut open doors (which happens a lot in the game) you have a game where you have to keep the heat 'optimal'. They just add frustration, and take away even more from the fun. We don't know if it will come out, Sega are conisdering canceling it, but right now its still going.

If that's true, it'll be interesting to see the fallout from this. I can't remember a game release quite like this one
