Chrome vs Firefox

I'm a Firefox user who's considering switching to Google Chrome, and I thought I'd ask for an opinion or two here before giving it an extended trial. Which do you prefer?

Lately I've been using Chrome. It feels cleaner and lighter to me.

Chrome and Opera are the two I use; they're almost identical. I use Opera for my usual pages and work; since it begins where I last left off. Chrome is essentially an Opera clone, I use it for everything else.

I don't even consider Firefox or IE anymore.

I was always a big FireFox user, but I switched to Chrome about 6 months ago and I've never looked back. I find it easier to use and I can do things a little faster with it.

Does Chrome have as good a video downloader as Firefox? That's a feature I just can't do without anymore

I have both, I mostly still use Firefox, but have been considering switching over. I know a couple of sites that have trouble with chrome for reasons that I don't really understand.

google Chrome is the best browser, when i first downloaded it, my internet browsing was running at a lighting speed, i even checked my speed Ip-Details.com and it was normal 5Mbps too, i was using firefox which chocked my browsing capabilities .

1.when you close a tab, you are virtually terminating the process. This seams to have some interesting implications on the security of the browser
2.Google Chrome also implements a new privacy feature. They call it incognito. Basically if you browse while being in incognito mode, nothing ever gets logged.
3.Another interesting feature which I need to mention is that popups are not blocked but they open in a minimized window.
4.It has a very simple design, which allows us to browse faster than any internet browser out there.

Still not buying into Chrome. Firefox still does everything I need and does it well enough that I do not feel the need to go elsewhere. I don't understand how Firefox as a browser could have limited your download speeds, but it was likely an issue on your side of things.

Also I still think that Google gets more than enough information on me without having an eye directly into my browser, as well.

Just because it is a non-issue to you doesn't mean anyone cares that it's a non-issue to you.

Anyway, long time Firefox user here. I just rebuilt my pc since I picked up a sad, so when I reinstalled everything I went with chrome this time and am forcing myself to learn it.

Other than the different style of downloading within the browser, I'm finding chrome to be much faster, and much cleaner. I haven't explored too much with plug-ins yet, so I can't really comment on which browser has richer functionality in that respect.

That's not what I'm talking about. It's that person's first and only post and this is a dead thread, Oracle. Check the dates

Edit: As an aside, I've had to use Internet Explorer 9 a couple times for some stuff that wasn't compatible with Firefox (!) and I've been pleasantly surprised by it. If I wasn't so used to Firefox I'd give it more of a go.

Firefox just forced me to upgrade. 3.6.24 was the last version. I'm using Firefox 8 now.

Yeah it just made me jump from 7.0.1 to 8, as well

Firefox has got out of hand with it's versioning numbering.... Not really sure why they inflated the versioning so much.

And no, I didn't look at the date of the original thread.

I agree they have. By the next update we'll be at version 20.

My Dad works for IBM (Tessian works elsewhere and mentioned a similar issue) and the numbering schemes have gotten out of hand for them. Since a lot of testing goes into compatibility and whatnot before a company initiates a company-wide version upgrade, all these updates are really screwing things up. They've had to finagle their way into getting the Firefox developers to support one version for three months at a time.

All it's doing is versioning themselves out of any type of structured IT environment. No one is going to put the time into upgrading (and the testing that goes with it) that many times per year, which is required since Mozilla basically has said that once a new version comes out the old version is no longer supported.

And from a user's perspective, it's annoying and just a big 'wtf?'.
