That is to say, Romney is either a non-Mormon posing as a Mormon for show, or a complete hypocrite... As is the case with many Christians.
A friend of mine is a Mormon, so I took it upon myself to read the book of Mormon, as I have read many different religious scriptures and texts in the past. After reading the book, I find it very difficult to reconcile the moral compass of Mormonism with Mitt Romney. Particularly, his anti-socialist stance is the polar opposite of the pro-socialist stance in the book of Mormon, which blatantly preaches that all people should be equal in money and possessions.
I also, years ago, read Ayn Rand's books and philosophy - a poorly written and intellectually weak mockery of some of Nietzsche's work where he discusses how Selfishness can be a virtue, but adds that it is only for those whose selfishness can be beneficial to the race - and this is where his moral compass lies, in Objectivism - not Mormonism.
This brings up another point - many of my liberal brethren are mocking and criticizing Romney based on his Mormon faith primarily. This intolerance, in my opinion, is a harsh betrayal of Liberal tolerance, and instead strongly reflects conservative brand intolerance. It also demonstrates ignorance, because in all likely-hood, not one of these people know what Mormonism is, or have read even one page of the book of Mormon.
