  • So, what do you Americans think of the Z10?

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

It's done relatively well up here in Canada so far, although I'm waiting to see what sales are like after 6 months on the market for that and the Q10 before we can start judging success. Any of you guys grab one? If so, what do you think?

If you're curious, here's an article explaining some of the features not available to the Sheeple:

Wait? Blackberry is still making phones?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

This seems about as useless as the Nook. Let me go over the development cycle of a phone app:

1. Develop app for either Android or iPhone.
2. Convert app for the other phone (Android or iPhone).
3. Realize that the other phones don't matter.

Blackberry should cut their losses and move to something else. Adapt or die.

You never read that article, did you? Developing for Android = developing for BB10. They designed middleware specifically for easy porting of apps.

Even if they're #3 they're still gonna make phones. They have a very strong userbase and can make very good money off that. And really, the cell market changes so fast that they can shift up or down no prob (people look for phones every 3 years, easy to shift). Remember, Nintendo went from #3 to #1 in one generation and this market moves much faster than that.

I figure you Americans have written off the Blackberry much more than the rest of the world. That's why i was asking to begin with.

I can assure you that Americans have NOT written off the BB. That's a pretty big assumption. It used to be hip to have an Apple product while hating on Microsoft. Now it's hip to hate Apple. Hate is starting to shift towards Samsung now. BB has avoided a lot of that pop culture love/hate crap.

I guess that is the "adapting" part. I've always associated Blackberry=RIM because it's been a part of the BB culture for so long. It's a good business move to shift to Android, but it's a survivalist move. Sometimes businesses crash and burn with the last ditch effort to remain relevant. (I remember ATARI's last computer was a PC compatible one, because PCs were dominating the market. It failed.) Time will tell if it will work out or not.

I do agree that there isn't a lot of brand loyalty among the Android phones right now. I mean, there's some, like I'm a big fan of HTC phones. But, I switched to a Samsung one because it was new big phone out there. It's sort of like Intel/AMD during the 90's. Or consoles. (Fan of Nintendo during the early years, switched to Sony, then switched to the 360.)

The business world is slow to adapt in certain parts, but their employees are demanding iPhones and Android phones, so it's starting to happen. As soon as a business accepts those kind of phones, there is little loyalty towards Blackberry any more.

Where I work, we've has iOS in the enterprise for about a year and a half, and now everyone is whining that they want the new Blackberry.

Apple has done very well to turn enterprises off of their mobile technology.
