I'm going to do a little detective work on the game I am most looking forward to :D

One thing I find a little curious is how they have not revealed the game's name yet. Just an X which looks like a cross between the Xenogears and Xenoblade X. I am wondering if Takahashi is going to spiritually tie together his three franchises? It's possible:
Spoiler: show
While the three series may not be linked, but rather taking place in parallel universes: this is roughly where they fit in the timeline in relation to us in present day.

1. Xenoblade - 13.7 billion years ago AND some undisclosed time in the future. Sometime in the future scientists orbiting an earthlike-planet realize they could be like Gods, they activate a machine which causes the Earthlike planet to disappear. Two of the scientistsare reborn as Gods in the new universe they create. At the end, the Gods fall to a mysterious blade known as the Monado which holds the soul of the Intelligence of the machine that created the universe, this AI manifested as Alvis in the Xenoblade world. At the end, the Xenoblade world crumbles with the destruction of the Gods, and main character Shulk chooses an evolving universe rather than one whose destiny is dominated by Gods, then the universe restarts in the big bang.

2. Earth history and Xenosaga - 20XX to 5000 years from now. The Zohar is discovered in 20XX, the power source allows interstellar travel. At some point, experimentation causes Earth to vanish (Xenoblade parallel?). 5000 years later technology rapidly develops over a 100 year period. Wilhelm decides it is time for the universe to recycle and activates the Zarathustra device to reset the world. In the end, the heroes decide that the universe should evolve on its own going forward.

3. Xenogears takes place 10,000+ years after Xenoblade. The first scene, the ship Elderidge was transporting the Zohar, this could be very soon after the events of Xenosaga, or 100 years later, it is difficult to say when this first scene occurs in relation to Xenosaga.

Connections: you could make a case for Alvis from Xenoblade being the source of the wave existence from Xenogears, or you could make a case for Alvis being the same entity as Wilhelm from Xenosaga. Although Wilhelm and the Wave existence aren't compatible characters. While there are no direct connections between Xenosaga and Xenoblade, they have a lot of very curious parallels which could be drawn together. The book Perfect Works Xenogears paints a vague pre-history that resembles the Xenosaga universe, so connecting these two games is easy.
So we have a couple of trailers for Takahashi's new game, but I am just going to focus on the second one since it seems to reveal a little more. My hypothesis is that it is going to be a re-imagining of Xenogears, this is the evidence:

1. The Gears are made very much in the Xenogears style, but with a few enhancements. They are referred to as "dolls" in the Hud, but this information can possibly change. Xenosaga also had Gears, but they were of a smaller sort, and did not bare much resemblance to these ones in the upcoming game.

2. First 40 seconds show a character walking through a Gear hanger, very very similar to those in the Yggdrasil.

3. 48 to 58 seconds in show a desert city with Gears that look like some of the mining gears shown in Aveh in Xenogears. The city during these sequences bares resemblance similar to Dazil in the nation of Aveh.

4. 58 to 1:00 shows some greenery, this shot looks like a scene from Xenoblade, but could easily be Lahan region. There is a large dinosaur type creature shown, these were also present close to the Lahan region in Xenogears, although the only appearance we see around Lahan is in Black Moon Forest. Kislev had a much wider variety of giant dino-type things, and Lahan is on the border with Kislev.

5. 1:01 to 1:05 shows a desert region - nothing of the sort appeared in Xenosaga, and none existed in Xenoblade. In Xenogears, the second major area, Aveh, was located in a desert.

6. 1:06 to 1:08 is an interesting shot, multiple moons or other nearby planets, I don't think this is shown in Xenogears, I am not actually sure if the planet had any moons at all. One thing is certain here, this isn't Earth... If this game follows the Xenoblade philosophy, if you can see it, you can go there.

7. 1:09 to 1:23 show various scenes from desert and grassy plains environments. Some with battles, some with changing weather conditions... I am wondering if this game will have a Drtagon Quest 9 style multiplayer based on the HUD? THAT was the best offline multiplayer experience I have ever seen in an RPG by far. Although considering it is home console, it is more than likely online multiplayer. Really off topic here though :P

8. 1:24 to 1:29 is interesting - those flying creatures are making the same noise as Gnosis from Xenosaga. Although they could easily be just whale like creatures using a sound effect Takahashi likes.

9. 1:33 to end - That thing looks like a giant Mechon from Xenoblade. it is massive, look how small the Gears get as they fly close to it. There are no Mechons even close to this size in Xenoblade. It could also be related to the Gnosis from Xenosaga, but that would be a stretch. I am guessing it is a weapon of sorts, these sorts of things were commonplace in the Xenosaga universe. This doesn't really help my Xenogears case, but the battle is in space. So it looks like Space travel is possible. Xenogears didn't have much in the way of Space travel, the furthest you went was to Etrenank, the capital of Solaris. At least at some point in the Xenogears history there was a space program. We only really know that Shevat used to on the top of Babel, and then it flew off - but Shevat could have easily been using 10,000 year old tech, Etrenank looks as though it were constructed in the history of the 10,000 year old Xenogears world. This part essentially causes my hypothesis to fall apart a little since this is one scene that is not a part of Xenogears... Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is not a part of a re-imagining.

Note: at the end of the original teaser, people claimed the figure at the end looks like Shulk, and therefore is Shulk:

I don't buy this since there were a few characters in Xenosaga that looked like this too. Give him white hair and put a smile on his face and he is Albedo. Either way, it doesn't hurt my hypothesis of a re-imagined Xenogears that potentially links up Xenosaga and Xenoblade in the process.

All in all though, way more information is needed.

This. I'm still not buying a Wii U over one exclusive. Which is a damn shame because I would probably enjoy the series.

Just a note, this may not mean a great deal since the source has no citation, but on the Wikipedia article for this game, Soraya Saga joins Tetsuya Takahashi as a writer for the game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_(2014_video_game)

Alongside Soraya Saga is Kunihiko Tanaka - a former Squaresoft employee and the character designer of Xenogears.

For those unfamiliar with Soraya Saga: She worked on the Romancing Saga franchise. She met Tetsuya Takahashi during the development of FF6, she is responsible for the FF6 characters Sabin and Edgar - whereas Tetsuya Takahashi was responsible for the Magitek armour. I find that a lot of Sabin and Edgar made it into Bart from Xenogears - and Magitek Armour > Gears, somewhat =P

Anyway, Xenogears was primarily written by Takahashi and Saga - the script was originally considered for Chrono Trigger 2, then FF7, and later Project Noah, before becoming Xenogears.

If this is true, this is fairly exciting news! =D

They explain some of the story and show the world and gameplay. There's about 40 minutes of footage here. Unfortunately I don't have time to watch it all right now, but out of the first 15 minutes it can be deduced that:

1. This looks like the very beginning of the Perfect Works timeline, in the era around 16 T.C. (About 2500 AD, 2526 AD to be exact). So this is about 5000 years before Xenosaga. Considering that they mentioned the Xenogears and Xenosaga connection, I think we'll probably see some foreshadowing into the story of those games.
2. Character creation, you customize your characters look.
3. This game looks far more story heavy than the Wii Xenoblade Chronicles.
4. Looks like Takahashi was being accurate years back when he said he considered Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii to be more of a demo for a later game.
5. I think the reason they took so much time to unveil the title was because they were attempting to get the Xenogears or Xenosaga brand, and failed.
6. In Xenogears, Earth is long forgotten. In Xenosaga, it is known, but its fate is unknown. We see a chunk of the Earth floating through space Rennes Le Chateau, which was once a part of Earth - how it got separated was never revealed in Xenosaga. What Xenoblade Chronicles X shows is that it was invaded by an alien race, although the reason is unknown at this time - possibly due to the Zohar?
7. Elma looks like a female Chaos.
8. For better or worse, the art style looks VERY Xenogears.
9. There are Nopons in the game, I don't know if/how they link up with the original Xenoblade, but Nopon City in Xenoblade is one of my favourite locations in an RPG ever. In the commentary towards the beginning of the video I mentioned in point 1, it seems that there will not be a direct story link with Xenoblade on Wii.

More commentary to come when I scrutinize the footage more closely. There is also a 2 minute trailer, but I think it is a little horrid and looks like a trailer of some remake of Star Blazers (not to knock Star Blazers, it was one of my favourite shows as a kid), so I am not posting it. :P
This video is WAY more interesting.

So the timeline is roughly this:

2001 AD - Zohar found
2526 AD - Xenoblade Chronicles X
7500 AD - Xenosaga
13500 AD - Xenogears: Zeboim civilization.
17000 AD - Xenogears: Shevat Solaris War.
17500 AD - Xenogears main story.

Once I'm done with Mario Kart, I'll likely play Smash Bros next, then X. (so nice of Nintendo for making the lifecycle planning for their systems so simple - just make precious-few good games!)

Whole reason I bought the damn Wii U was because of X... is there even a release year for it? I'm assuming at least 2015?

Yeah, SmashBros, Hyrule Warriors(Zelda Dynatasy Warriors) and Bayonetta 1(HD Remaster yay!) & 2 should be out this year. 2015 is X, Zelda proper MIGHT be 2015, but my gut says 2016.

Other notable games to keep an eye on are Kirby and the Rainbow Curse(2015), Mario Maker(2015) which is basically Little Big Planet but for Mario and something Nintendo should have done a years ago, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem(2015 at this point probably), Shovel Knight(Late July), Yoshi's Woolly World(2015)

Yoshi's Yarn game was a big surprise for me. I'm happy Takashi Tezuka is involved so heavily with it.

With Xenoblade X - So far the story is consistent with Xenogears episode 1. It takes place 15000 years before Xenogears, and Earth was destroyed in an interstellar, according to Perfect Works. That would mean this is the colony of Neo Jerusalem.

Anyway, here is the Xenoblade Chronicles X trailer:
