<div style='font: 10pt Tahoma; text-align: left; '>Keep in mind i've alwayd been a fan of Sony, they make great looking electronics that are rock solid, too. Their customer support is great and easy to get a hold of, from my experiences.

The LG doesnt say what software it bundles with, unless i missed it. So, atleast you know what you will get with the Sony, thus you can research the software and see if it will fit your needs. Usually, though, the software will be 'sony-ized' if you know what i mean.

Also, the LG says it is IDE, but the picture looks like an external one to me... i just think it is weird and that alone would make me skeptical.

Lastly, it is only like 15 bucks more for a better brand, $15 extra for Sony is a no-brainer IMO.

I'm biased, though. I have a Sony Visa credit card, usually only buy Sony stuff, and dont mind ponying up the extra money for it. Then again, my stuff always works and never breaks so in the long run i think i make out.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Tahoma; text-align: left; '>Also, Sony makes burnable DVD's and you KNOW they will work with their products without ever making yourself a coaster. I dont think LG has a brand of optical media. Just food for thought if you didnt think about that point.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I have an LG burner now and have heard nothing but great things about their products from other people. It's like Toshiba vs Sony from what I understand, same quality at 20% less</div>

<div style='font: 11pt Dominion; text-align: left; '>Personally I've never even heard of LG before and I've had decent luck with Sony...plus I don't like the fact that they picture an external drive either</div>

<div style='font: 11pt Dominion; text-align: left; '>upon closer inspection...the photo gallery of the LG are all of an internal drive and it looks like it's OEM whereas the Sony is definitely Retail with software. I'd go with the retail for a DVD burner</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Well if you want to save money stick with what you know works, if you have to choose between Toshiba and Sony, go with Sony, because like flip said they make their own DVDs that will most definately work with their burners.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Both are good. And for the record, LG is a fine name and the stuff we always used when building for LD, Future Shop, A&B, etc.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Why, for the software? I guess for $13 Cdn it's worth getting a legit version of Nero 6.....</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>Aye. I think I've had a LG CD-ROM drive actually. Don't remember having any problems with it.</div>
