Who seriously wants to deal with that much emotional baggage unless she's loaded, hot, and wants your balls enough to say "I'll support you for the rest of your life." Basically if you fuck up in front of a girl the first time you meet them or give them a bad impression which it sounds like your friend did, then he's done. Obviously he did it in the first 10 minutes because like you said, she went straight for you. Would I get involved with that though? Plan nothing long term if I were you. She sounds like trouble and if she's hot then she's two times the trouble than she's actually worth. My opinion, lay low, let your friend brood on his own with his dick of a roommate ( I wouldn't be that cool to let that guy tell you you needed to leave, I'd be like "Fuck you, he invited me.") and maybe...maybe if you think things have blown over, give him a call, buy him a beer and tell him about some chick in accounting or something like that.
Then again, you could probably just give her what she needs if you got her number and be done with it (which is basically a reason for her to break up with her current boyfriend), but don't look for anything other than that.
