This sounds strangely reminiscient of the guys who thinks Dragonball guys must be all super powerful just because they say they blow up planets all the time. I'm not too familiar with the SNK series, but it can't be too much more than blowing up planets and that kind of stuff. It's such a lame excuse when you say stuff like, "But my character can blow up a planet", or better yet, "Your character sucks in a game." Well yeah, if Akuma is supposed to be as powerful as he is in the storyline of Street Fighter, he'd kill most other characters in one hit while they're blocking. I mean, have any of you ever played Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold where you can select Shin Akuma? You can beat 75% of the characters out there with Shin Akuma just jumping back and forth with double air fireballs (since it's not counterable unless you've some kind of Fireball/Dragon Punch move). It also makes a very boring game.
Though I don't play SF very much, or for that matter fighting games in general, I personally go with Ryu. The Hong Kong whacked up manga artists are pretty much the authority on this subject (since there really isn't a plot in the Street Fighter universe anyway). Almost every incarnation of Ryu in a Street Fighter manga would beat anyone from the SNK series except, of course, Capcom vs SNK manga (since that'd be kind of dumb). I'm also pretty sure the KOF artists know about the Street Fighter artists (heck, they might even be the same persons). Capcom vs SNK hasn't concluded yet, but so far the Capcom has contributed more than the SNK side (yeah, Kyo looked like he killed Orochi, but that was because Gill happened to self-destruct his body at the same time Kyo tapped Orochi for .1 points of damage).
In particular, Ryu from the Street Fighter 3 incarnations is insanely powerful. He's got moves up the wazoos, super regeneration, runs at faster than the speed of light, and has the move to end all moves, the Dragon Cry Hadoken, which is an unavoidable move that strips all power, from divine, infernal, dark, light, immortality, or whatever from the target. Of course, the move kills Ryu in the process, but that means he can always at least get a double KO.</div>
