  • Playing Germans now, 16 civ, random 160 X 160 world. I actually was destroyed in my first game.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I discovered something important, diplomatic relations are ESSENTIAL! In Civilization 2, I mostly ignored other Civs, treated them all as rivals, because friends always backstab you in that game because of the cheap and simple AI. In this game, you make friends, and I didn't believe what was said at first, but yes, you HAVE to make friends in this game, or you definetly will lose (unless maybe if you're playing Chieftan, I'm playing Regent which is the third difficulty, and I am quite sure I won't win my second game either, I just hope I don't lose).

Well, it's now about 120 BC, the Russians are at war with me and my allies the Greeks (on the other side of the Russian Empire). There are only 4 Civilizations known to all of us, and that is, Germany and Greece (alliance pact against Russia, and a Right of passage, which means we can go on each others land), Russia (enemy to Germany and Greese), and the Egyptians who are neutral, and they live way on the Eastern side of the Continent anyways. Russia is by far the most powerful, they are as powerful as me (Germany) and Greece combined. Only, My Civilization is on a large Peninsula fitting about 12 Cities. and Russia is just below, we border each other. Greece is quite a distance to the East, enough that Russia will focus on me. Russia is way more powerful, so I'm playing defensively, walled all 3 of my border cities at the bottom of the peninsula, and moved most of my defensive units from above into them.

I'm stuck with basic infantry because they cut off my supply of horses for Cavalry (Horsemen), which is VERY effective I might add. I have Iron Working, no access to Iron, I'm hoping to open up trade with Egypt somehow who DOES have access to Iron according to my maps. If I get Iron, then I get Swordsmen, Swordsmen would be very helpful, that's assuming the Egyptians would allow it.

Lets just say Civilization II to Civilization III, is like the Story of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest to the Story of Xenogears.</div>
