<div style='font: 10pt "arial narrow"; text-align: left; padding: 0% 5% 0% 5%; '>You guys (all two of you, I think, but there will be more I'm sure) sounds like posters at a fucking GameFAQs (or IGN) board.
"It costs WAAAAY too much!"
-Same as the PS2, and G-Man, I know you bought one at launch. Only difference here is at most places you're required to buy two games as part of the bundle... and who would buy the system and not a game anyway?
-Seeker, as you put it: "the DVD player in the Xbox is meaningless when you can BUY one for cheaper than the price difference". For the sake of argument, let's just say that without DVD playback, the Xbox would cost $300 as the GC does. And as you also mentioned: "we [Future Shop] sell those [DVD players} too for as low as $150, higher quality as well". Add 300 and 150 and you get... 450! The price of the Xbox (sans games)! And as for the higher quality for the DVD thing, I'd go out on a limb in guessing you probably haven't watched too many movies on the Xbox.
-10 gig hard drive means no need for memory cards, and you can also copy tracks off of a CD onto it and play them in some games (I only know about this in Tony Hawk 2x... a redundant game for me, as I own 1, 2, and 3). Isn't it also broadband compatible out of the box? I'm not being a smartass, I just don't know about this. That's what I've heard.
-Only huge downside when it comes to prices (that I can think of) is that you HAVE to buy a DVD remote to watch movies on it and the controllers are $50. Oh wait, shit, in checking Futureshop's site, the DVD remote is also 50 fucking dollars. Alright, that does bite.
"It has crappy launch titles and nothing is coming out for it!"
-First of all, no system launch has ever had more than two or three really great games. The Xbox follows this tradition with: Halo, DOA3 (you two might not like it, but I think anybody who really digs fighters or DOA2, ie- me, would), Gotham Racing (apparently good), Madden 2002, Tony Hawk 2x (a good choice for people who missed the first two, I guess), and NHL Hitz (I wouldn't have really put this one on the list unless you, Seeker, had mentioned getting it for GC).
-As for the "nothihng coming out for it" part (and nobody said that exactly, I'm just throwing quotes around it, freaks) that's not completely true either. A port of Max Payne, all of EA's sports games, plus Sega's, the next Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue 2, an exclusive Star Wars game ("Obi Wan"), a UFC game (the DC one rocked), and WWF Raw. And hell, it's early. I don't remember games like GTA3 or ICO being announced during or before the PS2's launch.
-Seeker, the titles you mentioned for the GC's "much better line-up of games ahead" includes: "Perfect Dark (it'll come sometime, but when? And whose to say that by the time it's out that nothing for the Xbox will rival it?), Mario Brothers (True. Luigi's Mansion hasn't received rave reviews but they could always make another Mario as well. Too bad they never made another for N64 - I'm serious, not being a smartass), Sonic the Hedgehog (Yes, but this will likely be a port of Sonic Adventure 2, or a compilation, and the Xbox might get that too), and Metroid (Point noted. Everybody's looking forward to this, unless... it's not still going to be a FPS is it?)"
Phew... This post wasn't meant to twist you words Seeker, or make you and G-Man look like dicks (you do a fine job of that yourselves! Ha-ha-ha-ha=ha... eh... I kill me). I just want you two to think shit out before bashing the shit out of the system. It could be a decent system, if Microsoft and Uncle Bill's names weren't attached. As I've made it clear in the past, I don't support the Xbox (because I don't support Microsoft in the "C0NZ0L3 \/\/@RZ!", or in general), and I hope it doesn't achieve the success I fear it might through Microsoft's bottomless pit of money, as it were. We always hear that console brand name loyalty is dumb, but I'm not currently condemning Microsoft because of any loyalties to Sony or Nintendo... I'd just sooner not see a company that has a monopoly on the PC market have one on the console market as well.
Longest post I've made in a while... in conclusion: Xbox->not for me (until they buy up all the good game licenses), G-Man->loves hockey and wrestling with a passion, MGS2->super, Brackets-> I use too many of them (case in point), Ish(wherever he is)->fudgepacker.</div>
