Great, great game. I'm a big fan of the series and this is exactly what I wanted out of the game. From a graphics standpoint, it looks like a hi-res version of the PSX ones, which makes it fairly nice. I like what they did with the licences this time around, kind of the middle ground between the first ones' very hard ones and the second's easy-ass ones. I think they finally got the balance on them down pat. As usual, the selection of cars is awesome, even without the option to buy used cars. They were really able to refine the gameplay a lot more in this one. The cars act more realistic than in the previous 2. Also, the added road noise in FP view is a great addition. That's before you even get into all the different types of races. There's SO many of them, it's insane. I really like how they changed it so you can either race the races in a series or individually (well, on most of them) and they keep track of both choices. All the specialty races are great too. All in all, a great game, everything a sequel should be.
Eternal Darkness
First off, the graphics are actually a little disappointing, especially in the first hour or so. The main level and first "chapter" (when you play the game, you'll know what that is) are quite plain and look more like hi-res N64 than 'Cube. That's not a good thing, 'cause if we all remember correctly, N64 games were fairly blocky. This one isn't quite bad, but it's nothing close to say, Resident Evil for 'Cube. The character models are a bit below that in Metal Gear Solid 2. The game itself is quite neat though. The storyline I only got into a bit, but it's quite interesting, as you have a "main" world you're in and you get transported into other bodies in other worlds (well, somewhat; don't want to put any spoilers). Each person moves and behaves differently, which is really neat. Haven't had too much time to experience the spell system and the insanity meter, but the spell system is quite neat, if it develops properly. Just haven't had too much of a problem with insanity, so I can't say if it's useless or neat. All in all, a pretty good start, even if the graphics are a bit disappointing, especially after Rogue Leader, Smash Bros, Luigi's, and Resident Evil.</div>
