The Other Worlds Shrine

Your place for discussion about RPGs, gaming, music, movies, anime, computers, sports, and any other stuff we care to talk about...

  • Anyone care?

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>You are seriously the only person in the world who hates that thing. The ONLY problem with it is the screen brightness. It's a freakin' handheld SNES just more powerful. And with the GB SP coming out, you'll REALLY have nothing to complain about</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I think the reason that he's pissed off is that he purchased a GBA within days of the announcement of the GB SP. I mean seriously, wouldn't you be? =P</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>The difference between the Gameboy Color and the Gameboy Advanced is less than they should have done. (And quite frankly, it took fucking EONS for Nintendo to produce a color system.) Sure, the GBA has graphics like a SNES (except LESS powerful), but the sound is almost the same. (Maybe a cross-between NES and SNES.) They only added two shoulder buttons, which means fighter games have to suffer yet again. And yes, the lack of a backlight is extremely annoying. The ONLY, and I repeat, <u><b>T-H-E O-N-L-Y</b></u> reason why they produced a new GBA with a backlight is because they were sick of Afterburners leeching into their market. After the new GBA comes out, Triton will be out of business.

The TurboGrafx Express had the right idea in the first place: inter-changable games between the system and the portable. Too bad Nintendo enforced its monopoly to bully it out of the market. How else could a piece of shit black and white system with poor lighting beat everybody else?</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>The GBA is graphically stronger then the SNES, the sound is just hurtin.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Nintendo released the GBA SP for 2 reasons: 1) People wanted those options (light, closed cover, rechargable battery) AND 2) it was economically feasible at the magic price point of $100 US. Only recently was the second condition satisfied. And the GBA is actually more powerful than the SNES</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>At the very least, they could have provided you with an on-board light, until the backlight became feasible. Millions of dollars went to on-board lights, and Nintendo could have taken the gold for itself.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Sine, read the part of my post that said "magic price point of $100 US", that's the SOLE reason it took this long</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>I don't think the handhelds with color and backlighting were that much more expensive. Even so, they could have sold them at a loss, and get money off the games.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>They were. The reason that all the others died (Turbo Express, Lynx, Nomad) were: 1) too expensive and 2) DRAIN on batteries (parents don't want to deal with that). And why in God's name would Nintendo even consider selling the GBA at a loss?</div>
