  • I'm replaying FF9, and I'm surprised at how well it has held up.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>I played it rather quick my sohpomore year of college, so there's a lot of the story and places that are vaugely familiar, and other parts that I just didn't remember. So in some ways, it's like I'm playing it for the first time, which is great fun.

I love how moogles are used for save points. That fits the atmosphere of the game much better than having a glowing ball of light or some spinning top thing. The card game is a blast, I much prefer it over blitzball from FFX. And even though the characters are all super deformed, the dialouge and story aren't too cutesy. The Active Time Events are also a nice touch for developing characters more.

I like having four characters in a battle, and I like how the skills are developed. Each character is on a set path, but there's some customization.

And Vivi is still one of the best FF characters to date. He's just so damned likable.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Triple Triad remains my favorite FF minigame. Tetra Master was a little too random for my tastes, and Blitzball was just plain boring.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>For example the attack power of cards are only significant to the 2nd digit in hexidecimal form. So a card with an attack power of 1 can either be from 10 (16) to 1F (31). The 1F is considerably stronger than the 10 but both cards appear to have an attack power of 1, so when you attack with a 10 on a 1F and lose badly (it is nearly twice as strong as your card) you think it's too random even though it's working the way it's supposed to. Too bad you have no way of knowing what the actual values of the cards are unles you can read Japanese, that is if Playonline.com's explanation is still up.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>It tied a lot of them together. I agree it had more elements from the first than any other, but it really included all of the first 6</div>
