  • So I'm playing UO again on a Freeshard that is pre UO:R.  Way fun.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 10pt Impact; text-align: left; '>Oh yeah, they've been allowing it for some time. 1000 clients usually on at peak on the server.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>It's not "allowing" so much as "It's not worth our legal team's time to crack down on it".</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Impact; text-align: left; '>Well, if there are 1500+ servers and an average of 50 people per server...that's 75000 players, now take that number and multiply it by 10, and OSI is losing $750,000 a month. That's a big chunk of change.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt Dominion; text-align: left; '>that's only assuming everyone who is playing it on those servers for free would be willing to pay for it otherwise-- most wouldn't</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>Let's say they lose only $500 from a server. It will cost them more than that to get a lawyer to send a cease and desist letter and potentially follow through. And it would take many of those before they got the desired effect: people are too scared to put up their own servers.</div>
