  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the buggiest games I have ever played. It's pretty ridiculous.

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>You name the bug, its probably got it. Choppy frame rate. Clipping problems. Disappearing characters. Level-up exploits. Slow-downs and crashes. This game isn't just broken, it's shattered into a million pieces and setting itself on fire. I had thought that the days of developers dumping unfinished games out the door were over. Guess I was wrong, or maybe I just haven't been playing very many games lately.

The game itself is pretty long and boring, with too much dialogue and an over-abundance of exasperating sidequests. I suppose some Star Wars fans might like it. The "romance" between your character (who doesn't speak except for what you put in his mouth) and the female lead is a riot. The fact that your character's "personality" is determined by you makes the entire affair seem like a dating simulation. Do you think maybe the people at Bioware enjoy dating sims?

But I cannot stress enough how sloppy the design is. I played the X-Box version, and I was honestly stunned by how much crap the developers let slide by. PC games are supposed to be plagued with bugs, not console games.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I didn't like KotOR as much as I wanted too (plus I was pissed at the lack of ranged pistol viability), but I certainly enjoyed it...and I certainly didn't crash or get any bugs??

Maybe it is your copy? Or maybe it's that whole "Thompson Drive" issue again. Or perhaps I was just lucky...

Bugs aside then, I liked KotOR and look forward to Jade Empire.</div>

I too noticed a lot of the bugs, but they didn't bother me all that much.

I also enjoyed the personality development part of it, being able to go light side or dark side, depending on your choices. I also thought that picking your every sentence made every single conversation a lot more interesting than the standard RPG fare of "walk up to someone, hit A, read their reply".

I agree that the whole romance part of it was absolutely ridiculous (and I thought Jedi weren't supposed to love, which confused the heck out of me). If you play as a female character, they try to develop a romance between you and Carth, which is equally as ridiculous (but I was playing dark side as a female, so I was a real bitch to him). It wasn't handled very well at all.

Other than that, however, I loved the game. *shrug*
