  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Yes, because Wind Waker was a cheap imitation made in Taiwan. Do you even listen to what you're saying?</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>You're reaching here Tort he's obviously referring to the difference in graphics. This one looks hella more realistic.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Looks impressive. I never much liked Wind Waker's aesthetic conceit nor its gameplay very much, so I'm inclined to applaud this shift in style. Here's hoping Nintendo does something interesting with it.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>I don't see how the graphical style difference makes this one more of a "real" Zelda game than Wind Waker.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>What? Are you fucking blind? Wind Waker looked like a cartoon. This Zelda is going for realistic type graphics. What part of that is hard to comprehend?</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>So the sprites make it less of a real Zelda game? Yes, it makes it less real looking, but Wind Waker was still one awesome Zelda game in its own rights.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>I was defending Seeker because they jumped on that man, I'm not saying Wind Waker wasn't a real Zelda game, I'm saying the graphics are more realistic.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>I've read Seeker's message several times, and each time I do, I understand it to mean that this new game, with realistic graphics, is more of a "real" Zelda game than Wind Waker.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I'm wondering if any of them are "real" Zelda games if we're going by this train of thought. This is not a series that has ever been defined by or even cared much about graphical realism. Shit, pretty much all of them went through graphical/stylistic shifts. Why is it newsworthy now?</div>

<div style='font: 11pt ; text-align: left; '>Probley because when Zelda was first announed it looked awesome with that demo of Ganon vs Link, then it got turned into a fucking cartoon. Wind Waker was fun, but I want my real time graphics damnit.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '>What won me over is that we can't do photoreal graphics yet, but we can make a game look EXACTLY like a cartoon. And that's what Wind Waker felt like: a playable cartoon.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>You know, I don't really like Zelda all that much. WW was gorgeous, but that was about it. This looks like it'll make a fine complement to WW though - yin to its yang.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>'Also, why are you making such a big deal out of this? You're only succeeding in wasting your own time on a point that doesn't really matter (but fortuanately for me I like talking about Zelda titles in any way shape or form =P).

1) Most obvious, if the graphics right off the bat are not proof that this is in fact the true heir to Ocarina of Time and the next in line for the Zelda series, I don't know what will be obvious proof to you (aside from my next point which is less obvious, but still very obvious).

2) All Zelda games in the main series take place in Hyrule, this one does, Wind Waker did not, it only had reference to Hyrule which was buried below the oceans surface, and only a single location was accessible.

3) Wind Waker was overseen by Takashi Tezuka, Shigeru Miyamoto had very little to do with the development, he was more concerned with his own Zelda project which is the one seen in those screenshots here, and movie posted in Daily Stuph. If you require more info on Shigeru Miyamoto, he is the one who headed all of the main Legend of Zelda projects to date, he invented the series and is also Nintendo's head of game development.

4) Information on this slipped up several times, in one case it was assumed that Nintendo was going to make a very huge announcement about this title. Nintendo masterfully covered up the information that had leaked out. This game has been in the planning and development process for over three years already.

5) Most importantly, this game is obviously Nintendo's biggest project for gamecube judging by the amount and quality of publicity they are putting towards it. Zelda Ocarina of Time was their largest N64 title, this game is the successor to that.

This new game is the real heir to the Zelda series. I am not saying the other is nothing, I liked many of the side quests better than the main games (Links Awakening over Link to the Past for example. I also think that Majora's Mask is a masterpiece).</div>

<div style='font: 10pt georgia; text-align: left; '>The balroggy thing is sorta neat, and the mounted combat looks interesting, but it just doesn't look that inspiring. Prince of Persia really raised the bar for games of Zelda's type, and that Zelda clip doesn't clear the bar for me.

I'm a little worried. I'm not sure Aonuma has feet big enough to fill Miyamoto's shoes. Mind-bogglingly great cel-shaded graphics aside, Wind Waker wasn't that exceptional (for a Zelda game!). There was no great big attention-grabbing, awe-inspiring hook, like LttP's Light/Dark World system, or OoT's being in 3D, or Majora's time-travel.

Eh, but this is pretty academic whining. I know it'll be great. I just want it to be greater than I think it looks at the moment :).</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>I loved Wind Waker; it's my second favorite Zelda after LttP. I also had no problem with the cel-shaded graphics. In fact, I thought they great with the game. Having said that, let me just say that after seeing this video, I think I creamed my pants.</div>
