  • I got Gradius V, and it's hard.  That's about all I can say since I'm only on the third stage

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Also like the earlier Gradius games once you die it becomes extremely hard since you need all your speed ups/laser/missile to just have a chance. At least you get to keep your options after death. I suppose if you never died in the whole game it wouldn't be too bad since you can prevent a lot of stuff shooting at you with enough firepower, but easier said than done.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "Stylus BT"; text-align: left; '>It's not that hard - not to begin with - but it can get pretty sick after awhile as each time you clear it you start over with the difficulty increased. Heh I hope that wasn't a spoiler. By the time you get to the 10th loop the screen gets filled with bullets..... fortunately they don't travel very quickly and the hit box on your ship is literally the size of that small black cockpit window that's just off centre.

Ikaruga and Gradius 5 were both done by Treasure and you can notice the similarities, aesthetically in particular. I like G5 better but then I've always been partial to the Gradius/Salmander games.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Kick-ass. Treasure should make a new shooter every week</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Completely different. Ikaruga was all about twitch-style gameplay in which you had to navigate through a trillion bullets and enemies and tight spaces and Gradius V, while it has tight spaces, is all about precision shooting. Imagine old Gradius with a hint of Ikaruga. Both are excellent</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Gradius V isn't really about precision shooting unless you can somehow tell where you're shooting at while dodging 100 different things.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>It's NOTHING like the other Treasure stuff in dodging. In Ikaruga and Radiant, I regularly have to dodge hundreds of bullets at a time while working my way through millimetres of room. In Gradius, it's more like patterns and areas to shoot the boss</div>
