  • For all Metroid players, be warned.  The platforming where you get the screw attack is a PAIN!!

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 9pt "copperplate gothic light"; text-align: left; '>You have to jump through a bunch of very small platforms to hit 4 spinners to release the screw attack. This wouldnt be so bad except that there about 8 rezbits around. Make sure you have plenty of dark ammo when you try this, because dark charge shot, followed by a missile, is still the best way to deal with the pains in the ass.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Screw Attack = win. Temple guardian after getting Screw Attack = uber. This has the best boss battles I've ever played in a FPS.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Don't let Zeus hear you call Metroid Prime a FPS</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>That implies that the term is in any way derogatory. I'd also consider System Shock 1/2 and Deus Ex FPS games, despite their heavy other-genre influences.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Can't wait to see what it looks like. I accepted the fact that they took it out of Prime 1 because of the first person viewpoint. But Retro, bless their souls, they really do go that extra mile, don't they?</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>I still need to get into Deus Ex. Damn, I miss System Shock 2. They don't make games like that any more.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Amazing, all first-person games are FPSs nowadays. I guess we should call Wizardy and Might & Magic FPSs too</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Those are RPGs. Metroid has you shooting things with a fucking cannon. This is not a hard distinction to make.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light", "Century Gothic"; text-align: left; '>Metroid was never a RPG in the first place. Just because we like the game doesn't make it a RPG.</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>It has SOME elements of an FPS game, but it is in no way the same type of game as Doom, Quake, Unreal, or Half Life. And if you call it an FPS, you're making sound like it's the same game as those, and it's not at all</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>Not derogatory, just implies a specific type of game</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>By your logic, Symphony of the Night is a platformer. I'm willing to bet that you'll find a very difficult time convincing people that Super Mario Bros, Mega Man, and Sonic are the direct competition (ie. same type of game as) to Symphony</div>

<div style='font: 9pt ; text-align: left; '>I couldn't care less for the most part either, but the point I was trying to make is you really can't compare it to a platformer 'cause it's not the same. It's the same with Metroid being compared to Half Life or Doom or Halo</div>
