<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>In Classical Music, you have a composer composing music.

In Techno, you have a DJ spinning dub.

In Classical Music, the composer tells which instruments to play and when to play.

In Techno, the DJ selects which turn tables and racks to use.

In Classical Music, the composer selects solo parts for certain instruments.

In Techno, the DJ selects samples to play in his/her music.

In Classical Music, many people make up the symphony.

In Techno, the DJ's equipment is the symphony.

In Classical Music, there are slow songs, action songs, and dramatic songs.

In Techno, there are Ambient, Drum & Bass, and Trance. (AMBIENT AND TRANCE ARE NOT THE SAME THING!)

In Classical Music, the music is played in great symphony halls.

In Techno, the music is played in clubs.

In Classical Music, a singer can be utilized.

In Techno, a singer can be dubbed into a song.

Classical is Techno!</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>Those are some really broad comparisons you're talking about. I'd imagine you could arrive at the same conclusion if you used similar logic for almost any musical genre.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt arial; text-align: left; '>No music can be "like classical was way back then." We have pop-culture now, and marketing. Techno is comparable to classical in some ways, but it ultimately falls short.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>Give me a fucking break! If you want a good quality techno mainstream music, look towards Chemical Bros and Crystal Method. At least they are complex, and still going strong. OTOH, you still have crappy groups like Moby and Fatboy Slim still hitting the airwaves. (Don't get me wrong, I like FBS, but I don't agree that it's complex to make.)

And with electronica having more genres than rock, and EVERYBODY in the rock/rap/metal/etc. industry experimenting with it, it's not like it's going to fade away any time soon. It'll have as long as a period as rock does, probably longer. You want proof? Here's a list of sub-genres (and a bit of history) <a href="http://phobos.plato.nl/e-primer/">here</a>. And it's not even up to date... <a href="http://dancemusic.about.com/library/blg ... Here</a>'s a simpler list.

There's new sub-genres popping up every year. Drum & Bass is only 5-6 years old, and it's huge now. Big Beat, now the biggest mainstream sub-genre, was invented in 1995. Do you know by who? Chemical Brothers, with their first album, Exit Planet Dust. Since they've moved on to progressive house, groups like Apollo 440 and Crystal Method have picked up the mantle.

(And this isn't even the shit you hear in most raves...)</div>
