  • Very interesting review of the differences between Deep Blue and Deep Junior, by the opponent himself.

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I like that this time everything was documented and made public. I think Deep Juniors programmers should be elated.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>That is an interesting article. I applaud Kasperov to be able to tie something that can analyze millions of chess games just to make a move.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0% 10% 0% 10%; '><i>For 50 years one of the recurring motifs of the science of artificial intelligence was a chess computer beating the world champion. It was almost an obsession in the community, with scores of teams in dozens of universities dedicating their academic careers to achieve this goal.</i>

As far as I understand, no academcis decidated their career to something as specific as getting a program to beat a grandmaster at chess. Certainly, people have dedicated their careers to artificial intelligence research and application. But chess is just an aspect of that.

Of course, I may be wrong, but that claim just doesn't sound right. It almost sounds like a rationalization for why it was okay for him to tie - and in the process, making that particular act important than it actually is.</div>
