The trailer makes it seem like a decent movie (at least, a decent horror movie), but it was total garbage. I should have known the moment I saw Wes Craven as the executive producer - as well as the cheesy title (jesus, if the things don't have a name, fine, you don't have to pull that stupidass "Pronoun for a Name" cliche).

The main problem with this movie is that the filmmakers really have no idea how to scare you, yet they believe that they can make up for this shortcoming by trying really hard to scare you. Add this to the fact that sixth-graders in the "special class" in the school basement have a better sense of timing and plot-structure and you have yourself a completely forgettable movie at best (and a mind-numbingly horrible one at second best).

The movie moves essentially like this: begin with some boring, vaccuous character-interaction to pass as plot-development, move into a "suspense scene" that would be suspenseful if it didn't blow its load quicker than a overzealous rookie porn-actor. Repeat for 90 minutes.

The key to good suspense is to keep the audience guessing. But as soon this film goes into "scary mode" we see monsters jumping around in the dark and making ridiculous sounds. I don't think I was genuinely frightened throughout the entire movie. It was really sad.
