It was John Byrne's (or Adam Byrne? can't remember) baby. Similar to in the movie, Jean manifests the power of the Phoenix during some sort of plane accident. She becomes the Phoenix for a while - new costume, more fire and such. But apparently the power of the Phoenix is enough to destory entire solar systems, and Jean can't control it. I think she "accidentily" takes out a solar system or two. A powerful alien race that is mostly under the Sh'iar Empire (spelling might be wrong) want to take her out to save the rest of the galaxy. This means killing Jean Grey. The X-Men, Scott in particular, have a problem with this.

In the end, Jean sacrifices herself (I think). She dies. Byrne meant for her to stay dead, but there's no way that Marvel was going to let that happen.

There is no defection story. He starts out as a bad guy in the comic books, as a part of the Brotherhood of Mutants. He's not a big character.

Yes, he's real, although he's not a major villian. He's been used now and then, but no important story arcs have revolved around him. Like in the movie, he's used when covenient. If I remember correctly, he is insane.

All of Marvel's female characters have huge breasts; Siryn is not an exception.

Some of my explanations might be a bit off. I was an X-Men fan boy for a few years, and during that time I pieced together most of the 30 year history, but I might have a few pages missing or inaccurate.</div>

No such relationship existed in the comics between him and Rogue, but twice he took in a younger female X-Man, and became a sort of mentor and father figure to her. First it was Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat, the one who phases through walls) and later it was Jubilee.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>The Phoenix (Dark Phoenix) Saga was probably the greatest story in the Marvel Universe. I'm biased, but it was. Chris Claremont had almost absolute control over the storyline then, and he made the best of it.

After taking out Magneto on his moon base, the X-men were returning to Earth in a damaged Shuttle. Jean didn't have enough power herself to protect everyone during reentry. She was 'contacted' by the Phoenix, a demi-god of sorts, who offered Jean the power to save her friends in return for the chance to experience life as a mortal.
Jean and the rest of the team survived, much to their surprise. Over the next few Months, Jeans powers increased dramatically. A side story at this time, Wolverines Marriage to Yukio, developed the story further along with a major change to Storm.

Eventually, the demi-god powers drove Jean mad as she simply had powers beyond a mortals control. She destroyed a planet in a fit of madness and was brought to trial by the Shi'ar empire. (dead on Kupek) Rather than be sentanced by them, in a moment of lucidity Jean decided to end it herself, ultimately commiting suicide on the moon.

This was NOT the end. Almost a full year later, Jean reappeared after the whole Madelyne Pryor storyline. (it sucked) The being who commited suicide was actually the Phoenix, who had created a facimile of Jean complete with memories and the belief she WAS jean grey. Meanwhile, the phoenix had put the Real Jean in Stasis to recover while the Phoenix was around. It was confusing, but it made for must have comics everymonth to get the whole damn story. Damn you Marvel, I spent far to much money on you back then. =)

Lady Deathstrike:

Long time nemesis of Wolverine, she is a Cyborg. She seems in the movie to be a combination of Silver Fox and Deathstrike.

Deathstrikes father was the one who discovered the process of refining Adamantium, making the Weapon X project possible. Deathstrike blames Wolverine (and rightly so) for her fathers death.

Jason seems to be Jason Wyngarrd/Mastermind. An original member of the Brotherhood of evil Mutants. Mastermind at one time controlled Madeline Pryor with his ability to create believable illusions. I believe it was while he was leader of the Hellfire Club.</div>

She was the first one that Wolverine helped. Kitty Pryde was indeed another, but she had a special relationship with Nightcrawler too, and of course Colossus.</div>

Viewing himself as a more merciful candidate than his fellow mutant, Logan fought hard to win the battle. As a result, his skeleton again was laced with Adamantium. Under the control of Apocalypse, Wolverine fought the X-Men ferociously in his Death persona. But with the help of his teammates, he eventually broke free from Apocalypse's control.

It was like a gian, four month What If? or Elseworlds. It was a four month story where they had much more freedom, because it didn't have an impact (well, almost) on normal continuity.</div>

Plus, it was too difficult for the younger crowd to get into. Now they can put a different spin on the characters, give them some characteristics they didn't have before. <div style='font: 10pt Arial, Tahoma, Geneva; text-align: left; '>It's been awhile since I've read any comics (although, Free Comic Book Day got me back into a shop where I bought a hardcover copy of "The Dark Knight Returns"). I'll try to answer you're questions best I can =).

Tyler (I think that was his name?), Cables son from the future, gave Wolverine his adamantium back so he could be a Horseman of Apocalypse. Happened in Wolverine #100 I think... I also remember a holographic cover... I remember Wolverine slaughtering Tyler and his crew.

Legion (wasn't he Professor X's son?) went back in time to kill Magneto. Just as he was going to kill him, Professor X jumped in the way and got killed. This altered the future and started one of my favorite sagas, the Age of Apocalypse. The X-Men eventually found a way to set things right and saved Professor X from getting killed. So the guy isn't dead, unless something else happened since I quit buying those books.

I used to read the New Mutants and X-Force comics, so you would think I would know exactly why Cable has cybernetic enhancements... but I forgot. I do know that Stryfe is Cable's clone. I can't remember what happened at the end of the Executioner's Song arc.... argh!
