  • THQ and Acclaim defeat World Wildlife Fund over WWF brand name games...

<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>Well I just heard this fairly obscure piece of news and I found it interesting. For the PSX and N64, games such as WWF Attitude, WWF Smackdown, WWF No Mercy, WWF Wrestlemania 2000, and such are still selling a few thousand every month (around 10-20K combined in a normal month so far in 2003), now this is not a huge number but it does equal a few hundred thousand dollars per month between all the games. The World Wildlife fund had attempted to force THQ and Acclaim to pull all the games baring the WWF label from the market; this is all due to a court decision over a year ago that forced the WWF (World Wrestling Federation) to change their name to WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).

So all in all, the victory allows old WWE software which still used the WWF label to remain on the market. It's a small victory, but it will save THQ and Acclaim millions in the long run.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "EngraversGothic BT", "Copperplate Gothic Light"; text-align: left; '>It probably did the same thing to the other WWF. My point is that they only use those is that its easier to say. It's not an official name. It shouldn't be trademarked.</div>
