  • Xenosaga 2 only 25 hours? GOOD!

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Xeno 1 was less than 30 hours and it seems like 10 of those hours are cutscenes. In fact it's actually pretty hard to spend more than about that unless you're just obsessed with their stupid mini games. I really don't see someone exploring any areas more than they need to due to the horrible load time. It takes a minute to kill a group of enemies that I can kill with one 4 point hit-all attack.

Now if Xeno 2 actually has a story (and no saying there's a big conspiracy that no one knows about that will be explained in the next game isn't a story) I might consider buying it. Then again, probably not.

I had a lot of fun with Xeno 1. I cant wait for 2. Plus I have heard you are gonna be able to port data. Anyone know if this is true?

All you get is some of the girls in a swim suit for having the old data. It's a totally different combat system for one, not to mention having your level 50+ characters from Xeno 1 would've trivialized the game.

It depends on your definition of 25 hours. Ninja Gaiden may be considered a 10-15 hour game, but you're NOT going to playing it for exactly 10-15 hours because of the difficulty. Hell, I know I spent a good 5-10 hours alone on that card game in Xenosaga.

Yeah, like Don said, the first Xenosaga is about 25-30 hours in length, probably around 25 hours if you skip getting the ultra powerful gears that slaughter everything.

I also enjoyed the first Xenosaga game quite a bit. I thought I was the only one here who did, a lot of people really didn't like it. The only problem I had with it was the battle system, I like games like FF1, FF3, FF8, FF10, and games like that where hits can be made very quickly and battles are very short. Every attack in Xenosaga has to be flashy, the novelty wears off after the first battle.

Ninja Gaiden is easily twice as long as its quoted playthrough time, given how many times you'll die.

It's not just the flash. If you want to end battles as soon as possible you'd always use KOS-MOS's X Buster since that's the only hit-all attack that you can sort of skip, but even with all that factored in, when you add the loading time, the post combat screen and whatnot, a random encounter that you can end on the first round still takes close to a minute. In general, the pace of combat is just too slow.

I don't consider minigames part of the play time.

I played Blitzball a lot in FFX but the game still only takes around 30 hours to beat even if you can play Blitzball for 50 hours.

If a game's playtime comes from minigame that game maker should be making mini games, not RPG or whatever.

Are you talking about Xenogears 2 or Xenosaga 2? I was always under the impression that Xenosaga was a sequel to Xenogears... I never played it though since my friend who *did* play it said that it sucked.

From my understanding Xenosaga is actually a very early prequil to Xenogears. I have heard that Xenosaga will be 6 volumes, and volume 5 if where Xenogears will fall into the story.

Actually, I didn't like parts of the battle system because they removed the wonderful combo system from XG. I mean, the 3-hit combos just don't do it for me. I need to be able to dish out 7-8 hit combos. It gave the battle system a little bit more of an interactive feel.

I didn't ever really compare the engine in Xenosaga to the engine in Xenogears. They were made by completly diffrent developers, so you can't expect them to be the same.
