Have any of you ever played a series called Ys?

If so what system was it on? I might need to go hunting for an emulator and rom, I've heard nothing but good things.

I thought that was on SNES? Yeah, NES/SNES here:

The only thing I remember about it was finding the SNES version in my friend's collection, putting it in, us laughing at the intro (for some reason), and putting the game back.

I remember playing the first Ys on my Master System. I think other releases were on the NES/SNES.

I thought that it was mainly on the TurboGrafix 16. (Did I spell that right? It's been a while since I've even thought about that system.)

Ys has been on a bunch of systems, including a few PC ports.

Go search GameFAQs for Ys and you'll get a list of which games were on which systems.

I know I played it in the early 90's on my buddies Turbographix, and another on the SNES. From what I hazily remember it was a pretty cool adventure hack & slash.

It's spelled Turbografx 16 (PC Engine in Japan)

Ys has been ported to just about every system known to man and some unknown to man. Most of the Ys game appear to be on the computer though (Japanese of course). I'd highly recommend waiting for Ys 6 for the PS2 because unless you're a big fan of music (Ys is known for music) you'll be disappointed by the antiquated graphics/system.

I remember back in Taiwan, their gaming magazine had a special on Ys 3 and it looked really good, but when I got the ROM for SNES it didn't look nearly as good as I remembered. But then the magazine showed some Animeish cutscenes which is probably on the PC-Engine or whatever weird format they got in Japan that's a bit more potent than the SNES in terms of space.

The anime cutscenes are in the Turbo ones, as are more symphonic scores. For obvious reasons, they were left out of the cart versions

The only one that I have played is the Y's from the Master System. I have had a lot of fun with that one. Mabye after I finish with the Shin Megami Tensei games I will try them out.
