  • The Nintendo Revolution will be backward compatible. Sweet!

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

If that's the case, they'll need to make sure that all of the buttons and sticks are there. Nintendo's always been skiddish about adding buttons to the Gameboy.

I'm not a fan of too many buttons, I think six is a good number (the pS2 has 8, but the R2 and L2 buttons are almost never used anyways). I am wondering if they will incorporate some DS technology into it.

Doubtful, they have said numerous times that the DS is a standalone kind of system and should not be received as next in the gameboy line. I dont think Nintendo would weaken their numbers in the DS by making the next gameboy the same thing but better.

Depends on what you're playing. There's a lot of action and fighting games that use all of the buttons. Zone Of The Enders is a very good example. GTA is another. The more buttons, the merrier, as long as they are all easy to access. I could see the 4 buttons increased to 6, a la Sega Saturn, while keeping the 4 sidebar buttons. Gravis had a neat idea with the Gamepad to put a slider in there above the buttons. That could work for certain games, too.

Anyway, my main point is that if they are going to make the new Gameboy backward-compatible with the Gamecube, they MUST increase the amount of buttons to equal the Cube's controller. Otherwise, they are going to find that the system suddenly isn't backwards-compatible any more.
