Apparently they've named this guy as the villian for Spider-man 3. Wonder what happened with The Green Goblin again? >_> Unless they do duel villians.

Heh, the dude from Wings. What in the hell would he be playing as? And yes, I would like dual villians. They really have no choice, because GG was already played out in the first one.

Green Goblin 2 will be there regardless of who the next main villian is. They kinda forced the issue in the end of the second movie. The question is, who is the next one? Lizard maybe? But Hayden looks a lot like Eddie Brock....

He seems too small to play Venom.

They better not do Venom in the next one. I think they need more time to build his backstory before bringing him out.

Another forum I post on speculated that he could play Mysterio, Sandman, or the Scorpion.

I'm voting for The Scorpion. That'd be pretty cool.

Raimi skyrocketed the story into the 80's with the second film (when MJ knows he's Spidey and is with him), so who's to say they won't put in a villian that's probably the most popular one to a lot of younger people? Remember, most don't even know anyone in the Sinister Six other than Doc Ock. They COULD bring in villians like Mysterio, Scorpion, or the Lizard, but why? They're outdated nowadays and most of the young people who know the new comics or watched that great animated show of the 90's are probably more aware of villians like Venom.

I'm curious if they'll do their own version of Doctor Doom....

Well, Scorpion was a big villian in the 90's cartoon show. That's how I originally knew about him so I'm sure plenty of other people do too.

I doubt they would. Doom has never been know as much of a Spiderman villain as a FF4 villian. They probably have more than enough other choices for a Spiderman movie (Venom, Carnaga, Green Goblin II, etc).

Bringing Scorpion in at this point would just be stupid. His power is exactly the same as Doc Ock's except that he's just got one tail while Ock's got eight tentacles - Scorpion has no potential for raising the bar on the action/SFX sequences of the first two movies. And we're already going to be revisiting the Green Goblin anyway - we don't need a re-hash of two villains, do we?

I'm guessing Mysterio or Sandman. I'm hoping for Venom, but it's tough to say...

Golly, Venom would rock. Lord knows how they would introduce him, though.

Venom would definitely make for the coolest action, but I think Sandman could pull off some pretty sweet shit of his own - especially if Sam Raimi takes some notes from Naruto :)

As much as I would like to see Venom, I agree with Lox that they have to lay a bit more backstory first. Of course, Raimi will be gone by then, but I read that he's not too fond of the character anyway.

Sandman would look awesome fighting.

The only problem with that is that, from what I'm told, Sandman doesn't have a lot of backstory with Spiderman. It's more like he hates Spidey because he interferes with his crimes rather than having a connection like the Green Goblin or Doc Ock.

Someone at another forum thought Scorpion would work if Harry Osborn had him created to kill Spiderman and then perhaps became GG2 at the very end for a fight.

Plus, calling him a rehash of Doc Ock is ignoring a lot. Scorpion is strong. Doc Ock was just a guy with tentacles coming out of his back for the most part. Imagine Spidey and Scorpion really slugging it out. Plus Scorpion has the acid blast. He's also fast like Spidey, can jump, etc.

I agree that Venom would be freaking awesome. I just think bringing him *snap* like that wouldn't do the character justice. He'd just be "another villian".

I think Venom would make for the most interesting villain. The other ones mentioned don't seem to interest me much. Also keep in mind that the guy they have playing Spiderman is also a lot smaller than the cartoon spiderman, so Venom could very well be as well. I think if the writers are good enough they could easily do Venom in one movie, it doesn't make sense from a market standpoint to spend two movies on it.

Agreed, and a cool villain like Venom needs to come soon. People will be sick of Spiderman if they wait until the 4th or 5th movie.

Eh, I still don't really see a Spidey/Scorpion fight being anywhere near as spectacular as the Doc Ock battle. I'm starting to think that Venom is really the only choice for topping that, actually.

I didn't think the Spidey/Doc Ock battles were all that amazing. Maybe I was underwhelmed by them.

It all depends really on how many movies they plan on doing. If they are expecting a 4th, then, imo, they need to work with Venom's backstory and build it up or else, like I said, he becomes just another random guy who fights Spiderman. If they're not sure whether there'll be another one after the 3rd, then sure, go for Venom. Heck, I want to see him in a movie. :)

And Seeker...I don't know how many times we have to explain this: the Peter Parker from the cartoon is not the geeky, teenage Peter Parker from the comics that these movies are using. In the comics, Tobey Maguire actually fits very well. So, that's a bad comparison. But I do understand your point and I agree that he would be the most interesting villain.

Gee...nobody's thought of a triple villian event? GG2, Sandman/Scorp, Venom? I think Batman's done it (though not very successfully).

Because of the Batman movies, I'm afraid of multiple villain events. :)

Seriously, a weenie for Spiderman i can kind of handle, but more weenie villains? What the heck is going on here?

They need to cast Arnold so he can just smack everyone around... with his schlong!

(its Friday, i leave soon, cut me some slack)

Batman did it multiple times though. they showed how it didn't work. (Batman & Robin) How to do it somewhat respectably (Batman Forever...one was pretty good and the other was terrible.....Jim Carey was a fantastic casting job as The Riddler) Then they showed how to do it right with Batman Returns (You had Penguin, Catwoman, and Maxwell Lord....I mean Shrek.all very well done. Penguin was always the businessman of the bat villains and Catwaman was portrayed as she should be as an ambigous evil. is she bad or good....really she was neither. Shrek (which was a mandated name change form Maxwell Lord because at the time Lord was part of the Justice League.definitely did some awesome stuff with that. I have a feeling batman Begins will do it very well also having more bat-villains than you can shake a stick at. Joe Chill, Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul (about fucking time on that one) and more classic bat villains like tsasz
