  • Massive update on the upcoming Zelda, in short...

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

I have been reading a lot on this game this morning, anyways, here is what I gathered:

1) The game begins with Link at the age of 16; he will grow older as time progresses through the game. The game takes place over years (probably similar to Final Fantasy Tactics).

2) The game unlike previous Zelda games does not take place in just one country, it takes place across a few of them, and Hyrule is among them. Link's village in the pics that looks similar to Kokiri village is actually not Kokiri village. It is an Elf village that is in a country outside of Hyrule.

3) As far as battle controls go, they are similar to the tested and true Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker controls; though there are many new additions to the standard movesets (of course). EGM reported that the battle system has changed quite a bit though, so we'll just have to see.

4) The scale of the game is said to be somewhat large, and the plot much deeper than any previous Zelda title.

5) The water is now transparent to a point, and looks much more realistic than any previous title.

6) The detail of the characters has been improved from the Spaceworld demo, the developers felt that the graphics style was correct, but that the characters needed more detail.

7) There are many towns in this game, and all are said to be superbly designed

8) Princess Zelda fights in this game. Speaking of Zelda, here is some conceptual art of what she will look like int he game: http://www.gbazone.com/tweder/zelda.jpg

9) The overworld will be filled with activity and events.

So, does anyone here NOT want this game?

I'm actually looking forward to it less than others, only because of the darker tone. But if it's absolutely amazing I'll get it and play it.

The game looks amazing, the only thing I think I'll miss is a Link Voice actor.

Sounds good. Too bad all that stuff should have been implemented like 2 games ago. Things like multi countries and towns shouldnt really be too impressive, Zelda has been way behind the curve for a while now and maybe will finally catch up to games who already have this stuff.

Funny, Mental, I was thinking the exact opposite. Zelda needs a darker tone. The kid image is getting very stale.

I agree with Sine. I am looking forward to the darker tone. That is one of the asects I enjoyed most about the first two Zelda titles on NES and Ocarina of Time. With the technology they have available to them now, they can paint the picture so much better than in the past. I am really looking forward to this game.

Flip, whether a game takes place in one country or another does not determine how advanced a game is or not. Let me try to explain this to you: Dragon Warrior I took place across multiple nations, but Final Fantasy Tactics took place in one; which game is more advanced? It is a creative detail of the game that I and others find interesting considering the history of the series from Ocarina of Time onward.

You mean in Wind Waker, right? No one can argue how far ahead of its time Ocarina was and Majora's was more of a side story and not a sequel

Maybe the new Gamecube portable system that they are thinking about.

Windwaker is still the most technically advanced Epic-Adventure title that I can think of at the moment. Is there something I am forgetting?

The one gripe I have with Windwaker is that there's two-four hours of fluff in the game, searching the ocean. The rest of the game is excellent though, well above the standard of videogames at the time of its release. The question is though: is Windwaker a part of the main series, or a side story? I consider it to be a side story which is very close to the main plotline. Adventures of Link is another game which could be questioned.

If you're referring to the other post with the pics, yes, that's the idea. But there has been NOTHING on a new Nintendo portable in a while, so someone's just having fun

Gamecube's are cheap right now, I think they are like 80 bucks US, you can probably find one for 50 used in perfect condition. Speaking of system prices, I think the new mini PS2 models are only about 120 bucks US new. I picked up one a few weeks ago (cost me about 170 Canadian) because my old PS2 somehow stopped working unless I had it on its side (it just kept loading and loading forever).

You should be getting one anyways. You can probably get one with both Prime games for about $100 used US, which is an amazing deal. There's about 5-10 games I'm sure even Sine would like

It's not really the price. I just feel like a techno-hog having so many damn systems in the house. I'm probably going to bringing my PS2/DC systems in the living room for a centralized location, but I dunno how I'm going to fit it all.

The Gamecube and new model PS2 both take up very little space, both combined less than one Xbox or one dreamcast.

A small cabinet?
