Carnivale fan?
Heh, I can't wait for the last three episodes. Who here is still keeping up with it?

Me, courtesy of Bittorrent. This season has been quite a doozy so far. Last season was all buildup and inuendo. Now it seems like they're going full steam ahead. Still, there are tons of questions left unanswered.

Well, they have three episodes left to answer them. It's good to see Ben having more faith in his powers now.

Hmm, I'll avoid any blatant spoilers since Manshoon is new to the show and reading this thread, but this past episode after the incident with you-know-who seems to have pretty much forced Ben to stop avoiding what he is.

I think I'll need a family tree after everything is all said and done.

Justin called his town New Canaan. I thought that was interesting:

canaan

(1.) The fourth son of Ham (Gen. 10:6). His descendants were under a curse in consequence of the transgression of his father (9:22-27). His eldest son, Zidon, was the father of the Sidonians and Phoenicians. He had eleven sons, who were the founders of as many tribes (10:15-18).

(2.) The country which derived its name from the preceding. The name as first used by the Phoenicians denoted only the maritime plain on which Sidon was built. But in the time of Moses and Joshua it denoted the whole country to the west of the Jordan and the Dead Sea (Deut. 11:30). In Josh. 5:12 the LXX. read, "land of the Phoenicians," instead of "land of Canaan." The name signifies "the lowlands," as distinguished from the land of Gilead on the east of Jordan, which was a mountainous district. The extent and boundaries of Canaan are fully set forth in different parts of Scripture (Gen. 10:19; 17:8; Num. 13:29; 34:8).

Pretty much. Though for a while it looked like one of the branches would grow back into the trunk if you know what I mean....

Of course there will be. I'm almost disappointed that they didn't wrap it up on the 2nd season. I hope to god that this was planned, and not some corporate decision to try to stretch the series out.

Ok, I just finished watching the season 2 finale, and......yeah, what Seraph said. There's so little TV worth watching these days, I'll be pissed if they don't keep this series going.

If memory serves, I think I read a blurb somewhere (probably AICN) that Carnivale will be back for a third season...or that's is likely to be back for a third season. So all hope is not lost!

That's one show I REALLLLLY want to see. I wish that it were possible to order single cable channels instead of full-on packages...the only two channels I regret missing on a consistent basis are Comedy Central and HBO.

There should be some BTs around.

Motherfucker! Their whole "natural end" reasoning is so BS too. It's probably just a cover so they don't have to come out and say the ratings weren't high enough. If they had meant to end it in 2 seasons they wouldn't have thrown in the whole bit with Sophie and what she becomes by the end (not to mention her mother trying to kill her back in season 1). Oh well, we can always hope it'll pull a Family Guy.

Yeah boss, who is a big fan too sent me this from some "multichannel" newsletter:

‘Carnivale’ Over: HBO Wednesday
cancelled its dark dramatic series
Carnivale after two seasons. The
Depression-era series followed a
carnival troupe and the forces of
good and evil.

For those that don't want to read in Size 15 Comic Sans or Variety's "slang language":

Anyway, it looks like the series creator moved on without finishing the thing. Honestly, I think the fucker bite off more than he could chew by trying to extend the series beyond its natural conclusion.

I was fully and completely expecting the series to end at the "last" episode, but they pulled this soap opera-ish plot patch to continue the series. On a whole, it would have worked better to wrap up the series as it should have been wrapped up. (I'd throw in a epilogue episode for good measure.) Instead, I think they painted themselves into a corner, or at least one that wouldn't capture the interest of the public like the whole build-up of the first two seasons did.

It somewhat reminds me of SeaQuest and Space: Above and Beyond, two good shows that fucked themselves with the unsolvable cliffhanger.
