A totally random thought: just how hard are the odds given in the world of fiction? Impossible doesn't count as odds, as whoever say such a thing is impossible is invariably wrong. Almost all my stuff comes from the manga/anime sector, but feel free to fill in other forms of fiction too. From most probable to least probable:
Defeating an ant soldier unharmed (Shalunark, HXH) - 20%
Defeating Marik to save the world from eternal darkness (Yugioh) - 20% to 3% (depending on deck strength)
Beating a Gold Saint as a Bronze Saint (Saint Seiya) - 1 in 10000
Being as talented as Gon or Killua (HXH) - 1 in 100000
Firing a computer unassisted proton torpedo and hitting the core of the Death Star (Star Wars) - 1 in 1 million
