Lords of Dogtown really isn't a remake, it's just based off of a great documentary (Dogtown and the Z Boys; and I don't like skateboarding).

While Hollywood is spinning it's wheels, there are great indie movies out there and tons of documentaries you can go see. The indie film market is booming, just go and watch some great stuff there.

There will be no kicking my face today, good sir. The Island is a remake of The Clonus Horror, a movie which appeared on, yes, MST3K. Well, I use the word "remake" kinda loosely. Plagarism seems to be the better term. It's kinda hard to explain if you haven't seen Clonus. Here's more info on the subject.

I suppose I can understand Michael Bay's logic on picking this one up. If you remake a low budget movie that nobody saw, you've got nowhere to go but up, right? Still, give credit where it's due, no matter how shitty your source.

Rock School is a remake of itself (School of Rock). I don't know where I got Kingdom of Heaven. King Arthur is a remake of so many other King Arthur movies. Land of the Dead is a sequel to a remake, and it may possibly be a remake to Day of the Dead. (Either that, or they are skipping that movie in the list of Dead remakes.)

John Reynolds' (Torgo) suicide was briefly mentioned in the article. Apparently he had a drug problem and was high on acid for most of the shoot. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic, but I can't say I've lost much sleep over using his likeness.

Rock School is not a remake of School of Rock. It is a documentary about a guy who teachers little kids how to, basically, be rock stars. Any similarity that has to the Jack Black movie is coincidence; it's about a real guy who's been doing it for a while. King Arthur (which is from last year) is not a remake, it's just another take on the legend. Land of the Dead is not a remake, but a sequel (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead).

There's actually a bunch more from that list which aren't remakes, but others have pointed most of them out.

Land of the dead is not a sequal to the remake. Land of the dead is a sequal to the original which was a completely different movie from the remake
