Very very cool soundtrack by Amon Tobin. I think it's pretty cool that they hire a guy like him to do a VG soundtrack. I haven't played the game, but I'm impressed by the music.

The new Wipeout soundtrack has a lot of high-profile artists too. Really good music is getting to be more and more common in games these days.

I'm starting to think the next few years may see the transition of games from "popular but still partially stigmatized" to "completely mainstream" - as in, more game commercials on TV, and lack of "nerd" stigma for people who make references to them in other cultural forms such as TV or movies. I'm almost willing to bet it'll happen within the next decade. As the music, graphical, and interactive qualities improve (and one can only hope, storyline, though I'm less optimistic about this one in general unless currently unknown factors come into play), more and more people will be reachable...

Yeah, just finished listening to it. Dark and atmospheric, but fast-paced and drums everywhere.

Every time I hear a new album from Tobin, I think "Wow, this man is a fucking genius". He redefines what drum&bass is and what it should be. He would probably be the only artist I would fit under Progressive D&B.
