The Other Worlds Shrine

Your place for discussion about RPGs, gaming, music, movies, anime, computers, sports, and any other stuff we care to talk about...

 • Cross-game appearances

 • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

It has just been announced that a character from Halo will appear in DOA4

Personally, I'm not a fan of all these crossovers from one game to the other. Often, they're done just to boost interest in a game by using a popular character, even if the character doesn't really fit in that world. This one with Halo and DOA4 and the Nintendo characters appearing in NBA Street 2 and SSX On Tour for 'Cube are prime example. Just look stupid and out of place.

Although, sometimes we get some great ones. Little Mac in Fight Night Round 2 for 'Cube and Link/Spawn in Soul Calibur 2 (Heihatchi was just out of place IMO) are great examples. Having these characters is kinda neat and adds something small, but it's not game-changing (even if Link is the best overall fighter in Soul Calibur 2).

I like them when they're well done, but they're just forcing it to move an extra few copies. It's irritating.

It's just like comics, man. You have some cool crossovers that advance a plot and are worthwhile, and then you have your crossovers where Galactus shows up in the pages of Alpha Flight for three panels so they can put him on the cover.

OMG Mental stop doing my job. I'm the one whose supposed to make the random comic book comments......grrrrr. now I'm gonna go cry in the corner.

and yeah crossovers can be done well. the spawn in soul calibur worked because it fit with the mold. others have worked before as well but none to that level. I just subscribe to the opinion that video games are a thing that shouldn't crossover.Video games and television as well though should never cross over. I hate it 90% of the time when there are stupid cameos. some are cool. Iron Man and Deadpool in X-men legends 2 are kick ass but really......

keep the lame crossovers like this to a minumum

I'm not part of that halloween thing. I just got 2 pop culture journalism jobs so I figure I'll start using my real name.

Ha, I don't want to use my real name for basically the same reason. A few years from now, when someone Googles my name to see what research I've done, I don't want some silly shrine discussion popping up.

And if you ever decide to run for public office, it could be your downfall XD
