Hey, 57, here you go. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm basically a pro at this by now.
For gamingsystems you need 4 referrals. For the Ipod and PSP, you need 5.
When people sign up under you, they will appear in your account with an icon showing whether they've completed an offer yet or not. You need to complete an offer and then have 4 friends do the same.
The types of offers vary. The company has deals with many big-names such as Blockbuster and RealPlayer for instance. They range from signing up for a credit card to trying a service for a free month trial, etc. You'll see about 15 different offers on the site and they are random and do change over time. The one I like the most so far is the RealArcade SuperPass. It's a free 30 day trial and it's actually something worth trying for a month.
The amount of time it takes for an offer to give you or your referrals credit can vary from instant credit to 2 weeks. The RealArcade takes 1-2 days, on average. Some offers require you to pay shipping or a one-time fee. Some are free. It really depends. You just need to check each one out, but like I said, you get a wide selection.
Once you get your 4 referrals, you ask for your account to be approved. The company picks over it with a fine-tooth comb to make sure you or your referrals did not violate any terms or conditions. Then you can place the order.
The basic rules to follow are: one account per household so don't try to get a roommate to sign up using the same address, don't use more than 1 computer to access the account if possible because they do check IP addresses and such which means they know which computer accesses which accounts. And don't cancel the free offer too quick even if you find out that it's not something you're interested in. They check this also. If the company finds anything that makes them think you are trying to scam them, they'll put your account on hold and you won't get anything.
Also, make sure your browser accepts cookies when you click the link to complete an offer. If it doesn't, you won't get credit. You will see a little mini-window appear with the terms for that offer. If you don't see it, try turning off an pop-up blockers.
Also, make sure you ship it to the address you signed up with when you set up the account.
Here's an example of how 1 mistake can screw you: my friend found 5 referrals for his Ipod and asked for account approval. He got it and when he placed the order, he asked me to use my work address since he isn't home during the day to accept packages. I said sure and so he shipped it to my work address under my name so that when the package was delivered I'd get an email. Because I already shipped my Ipod to that address, they put his account on hold and won't give him his Ipod now. Even after he explained the situation numerous times, they refused. So just follow their rules and you're cool.
Also, if you decide you want to try for a PSP or Ipod, here are those links (the referral numbers are for my friend. I figure if you're signing up, you might as well get him credit)
