It definitely seems to be very biased towards the 60's and 70's and certain types of music. There are some good songs on it, but there are like 3 in the top 100 I would put in my list, and some comments on them:
3. "Imagine" – John Lennon (1971) - I didn't necessarilly think this one was musically great; but I like to listen to this song once in a while
9. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" – Nirvana (1991) - Christians have Jesus, my generation had smells like Teen Spirit.
20. "Let It Be" – The Beatles (1970) - Yeah, I had to delete like 5-8 Beatles songs before I finally got to a good one.
29. "Help!" – The Beatles (1965) - Here's another one I liked.
35. "Light My Fire" – The Doors (1967) - Strange Days, my favourite Doors Song, and The Crystal Ship, my next favourite, didn't make this list. This one is fairly good.
46. "Heroes" – David Bowie (1977) - I love this song, and it's always a treat when a band covers it (usually in the closing set)
48. "All Along the Watchtower" – Jimi Hendrix (1968) This one was quite revolutionary and good at the same time
49. "Hotel California" – The Eagles (1976) You have to have a popular hick song in there somewhere.
53. "Anarchy in the U.K." – The Sex Pistols (1977), Johnny Rotten could never sing, but this is like one of the 5 good punk songs ever made.
58. "Billie Jean" – Michael Jackson (1983) - This is one of those really overplayed songs, but it's the type of song that really gets the girls in a sexy mood.
71. "California Girls" – The Beach Boys (1965) - I loved it when I was a kid, not a fan anymore
83. "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" – The Beatles (1965) - Now, here is a really good Beatles song. One of my favourites
84. "Every Breath You Take" – The Police (1983) - another really overplayed song, but it is the most beautiful song about a psychopathic stalker that I have ever heard.
89. "California Dreamin'" – The Mamas & The Papas (1965) - Great song, too bad the remix is overplayed and gives me a headache now.
101. "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" – Jimi Hendrix (1968) - Another great one, very deserving.
123. "It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World" – James Brown (1966) - Girls used to get mad when I sang this one back in Elementary school.
131. "With or Without You" – U2 (1987) - All U2 songs sound about the same, there were 1 or 2 that were actually good. Maybe just one, and this is it. There were other U2 songs on the list, I deleted them.
135. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" – The Beatles (1968) - My favourite Beatles song, mainly because of the piano at the beginning, possibly the most brilliant tune in music.
137. "Eleanor Rigby" – The Beatles (1966) - Here's possibly my second or third favourite beatles song. Why are the good ones scoring so much lower than crap like "I wanna hold your hand"? How do they score these things!?!
140. "Kashmir" – Led Zeppelin (1975) -Oh come on! Who doesn't like Kashmir? Too bad Mr. Daddy had to slaughter it.
152. "Foxy Lady" – Jimi Hendrix (1965) - Another good one by Hendrix, nothing more needs to be said.
153. "A Hard Day's Night" – The Beatles (1964) - This one is one of those generation defining songs, it is fairly good too.
160. "Bring the Noise" – Public Enemy (1988) - So this is the best rap song ever according to rolling stone? It's good, but not the best.
163. "Bohemian Rhapsody" – Queen (1975) - Waynes World anyone =)
166. "Lose Yourself" – Eminem (2002) - This made the list? I am surprised!
174. "Paint it Black" – The Rolling Stones (1966) - I got rid of a lot of Rolling Stones songs, this is like the only one I liked.
177. "Free Fallin'" – Tom Petty (1989) - Have to put another hick song on here
187. "Back in Black" – AC/DC (1980) - These guys invented screaming, ACDC fans seem to exist like a film over the entire world. But where is You Shook Me All Night Long on this list? I probably deleted it above by accident, I don't think a top list can exist without that one. I am not a huge fan of ACDC personally, in fact, not much at all.
196. "Sweet Child O' Mine" – Guns N' Roses (1987) - Guns N Roses third or fourth best song (Liked Estranged the best).
202. "Come Together" – The Beatles (1969) - Another great Beatles song, I am actually surprised this one scored below 200.
214. "Rockin' in the Free World" – Neil Young (1989) - This song could be the defining song on the last 4 years.
243. "Love Shack" – The B-52's (1989) - What am I thinking? This song annoys me except when I am drunk, then I love it.
255. "Heart of Glass" – Blondie (1978) - This is a sin that Blondie songs are scored so low. They were really biased against female vocalists on this list. I think this is the first one, except some Janis Joplin or Tina Turner song possibly that I deleted above (it may have been lower)
283. "Call Me" – Blondie (1980) - This is one of my favourite songs ever, I grew up on this. I would put it in my top 20 at the very least.
287. "Walk This Way" – Run-D.M.C. (1986) - This song is fairly good, but iit isn't even in my top 10 favourite Run DMC songs. My favourite is Can you Rock it like this.
297. "Heart of Gold" – Neil Young (1972) - Here's one I always liked, it had a good beat to it for a light song.
298. "One Way or Another" – Blondie (1978) - One song by Blondie I didn't really like, but I put it on here just based on how much more deserving it was than so much else on the list. I can't believe Rapture wasn't even on the list, I am actually surprised; Rapture is often my favourite song by blondie; it has one of the best beats ever put into music.
300. "Like a Prayer" – Madonna (1989) - It's good it made the list, I wonder if it is due to controversy that this song didn't get higher? It is one I would definitely put in the top 5. The video is also, in my opinion, the second best music video of all time (next to Smells Like Teen Spirit). I just find something sexy about a younger Madonna dancing in front of burning crosses in semi-skimpy clothing.
316. "Wish You Were Here" – Pink Floyd (1975) - Well.
320. "Heartbreaker" – Led Zeppelin (1969) - This song is one of the ones I used to play a lot back when I had the band in high school.
322. "Fight the Power" – Public Enemy (1989) - Good song, but where is NWA or Ice T?!
328. "The End (The Doors song)" – The Doors (1967) - Of all the Doors songs, I wonder why this one made the list and not others? Anything from LA Woman is better than this song; I say that because this song is long, and so are most of the songs on LA Woman.
336. "Walk This Way" – Aerosmith (1976) - DeJaVu
337. "Beat It" – Michael Jackson (1982) - Hmmm, here is another song that is scored WAY too low, easily this should be in the top 50 on any list.
338. "Maybe I'm Amazed" – Paul McCartney (1970) - I like it, I think this is a fairly deserving placement. FOR ONCE
346. "California Love" – Tupac Shakur (1996) -Of all the TUpac songs, this is the onethey picked? Did they not HEAR Changes, Hail Mary, or Hit Em Up?!?! Or anything else for that matter? I still really like this song, I am a bit surprised it made it to this list though.
356. "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" – Eurythmics (1983) - Fairly good, but WAY overated. I wouldn't even put this in the top 100 of the 80's list.
388. "Roxanne" – The Police (1979) - Not much to say here, it is just one I like to hear once in a while.
399. "Enter Sandman" – Metallica (1991) - They had to put one metal song on the list I suppose (I don't think they had to), this is a good pick, probably the best or second best metal song I can think of (but I am not one to ask about metal, it's not a music I like).
407. "In Bloom" – Nirvana (1991) - This one didn't have the same cultural impact that Smells Like Teen Spirit did, but it is almost as damn good!
408. "Sweet Emotion" – Aerosmith (1975) - The funniest thing about this song is the video where Steve Tyler demionstrates that his mouth is 8 times larger than Joe Perry's.
417. "Fuck tha Police" – N.W.A. (1989) - This is better than any of the rap songs above, what's it doing down here?!
419. "Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang" – Dr. Dre (1993) - Same with this one!
445. "Come As You Are" – Nirvana (1991) - Why this and not Lithium (or maybe I accidently deleted it above, Lithium easily Nirvana's second biggest song)
455. "All Apologies" – Nirvana (1993) - And more Nirvana, but I still think that About a Girl is probably their best song, at least above this one
475. "Sabotage" – Beastie Boys (1994) - I'm kind of surprised that this song made it to the list. I like it, but I don't think it's that good. The Beasty Boys had better songs.
476. "I Want to Know What Love Is" – Foreigner (1984) - Why not?
477. "Super Freak" – Rick James (1981) - Again, why not?
486. "How Soon is Now?" – The Smiths (1985) - Wow, I would say this is one of my favourite songs, at least a later cover of it, I don't like Morrisey's vocals, I liked Tatu's a lot better.
