  • Just finished Metal Gear Solid 2

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Behind the times as I may be, I still have to say that this is the first game where I have been really, truly touched to the root of my heart and soul by the plot. The ending, about passing on culture and history to the generations coming after us...OMG.

I don't often get to experience a sense of awe and majesty like this that just completely opens me up and turns me into a wild-eyed innocent fanboy.

And also, I had no problem whatsoever with Raiden in the plot, as it seems so many did. Unfortunate that there are many people out there who are so stuck on the military badassery of Snake, that it kept them from appreciating it. Solid Snake as personified in the Metal Gear series I would agree is one of the most classically awesome heroes in gaming, but the plot wouldn't have had the same effect with him as the protagonist. It needed someone with more vulnerability - like Raiden - and it's just unfortunate that because everyone was expecting to play as Snake, and have that "badass-ness", that it seems like a lot of them could not appreciate the complete opening-hearts-and-minds effect that the ending had.

YOu're the first one I've known who hasn't been disappointed by MGS2 after beating the first. The gameplay is better, yes, but the storyline is far behind. The third one made up for it, once you get past the first few hours and really get into the storyline. I can't wait for MGS3 subsistence....

That is obviously because you are all terribly, terribly bad and unpleasant people.

MGS3 was one of the best games of last year, and there were some really good games released last year. It's one of my favourite games ever, and I cannot wait for Subsistence.

MGS3 did not redeem Kojima for the combination slap in the face/ horribly overwraught/ mercilessly and shamelessly overhyped travestythat was MGS2. Man. That game!

I think my one problem with MGS2 was that I had no clue what was going on. I missed bits and pieces here and there as I was watching a friend play, but still. :) At the end, I was just like "...what???"

Raiden was only a small part of the disappointment. The plot was the major offender here.

Let's see, Stereotypical Mason type organization, unusually coincidental and strange love triangles, and a talking hand. What's to love?

Terrible people, as I said.

And communists, too, most likely.
