Especially since it can ONLY be watched on a PSP. Maybe with the adaptor it'll help push it a bit, same with Sony simply including them in the regular DVD purchase. That part is brilliant IMO, especially if it's only a few bucks more. It was having to pay another purchases price (often more than the original DVD) to buy a second copy that was killing it IMO.

I'd consider buying them if they were bundled wtih DVDs for a few dollars more. That'd definitely make it worth the price to try them out. As it stands now, I refuse to watch movies on my PSP when I have a laptop and such sitting right nearby.

The reason why no one buys UMDs is because every new type of handheld device (even the DS has that new Datel Max Media Player with a 4GB hardrive) seems to play movies now. Also in much more widely available and used formats; no one except a portion of gamers even know what a UMD is.

Another reason could be is that there is a very low demand for portable movie players in comparison to portable music, portable videogame, and just standard format movie players. Portable movie players never seem to sell well on any charts except for maybe Video Ipods.

I'd buy a bundle for a few extra bucks, too. Mostly, i rip my DVD's onto the 1 gig memory stick. The only thing you dont get are menus and extras, which i can live without since i usually just want the movie, the ripped quality is pretty good.

Right now, the hacking is the main appeal of the PSP IMO. If I got one, I'd get a 2GB stick to go with it and use it mostly as a way of watching my TV episodes (new ones) or some movies on the go

Well, i dont hack games and i'm not sure i would call watching a movie from a mem stick hacking. I own the CD, so there is no stealing, and the thing allows for huge mem sticks and even has short video DL's from a Sony owned site. So the idea of watching vid clips from the mem card wasnt homebrewed or anything.

Difference is, Apple doesn't have a BetaMax, Mini-Disc, or UMD. Their shit works the vast majority of the time. The iPod has an 80% so market share for cryin' out loud. And the Apple and Apple 2 computers were far ahead of their time and essentially invented the PC. When the iMac came out, it sold like mad and was a huge favourite with professionals and scholastics. Sure you have the Lisa and other failures, but their entire brand isn't based on marketing, unlike SOny, which are compelte masters at it. They're only rivalled by Nike and Disney IMO

The top selling game in North America is GTA: Liberty City Stories with 717K, followed up by Madden NFL 06 with 471K sales. 3.5 million PSP software units sold total in North America.

In Japan, the top selling game is Hot Shots Golf with 268K units sold.
