• I don't even play WoW, and this is hilarious

 • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

I did say it was schadenfreude, didn't I? :)

Still, that wasn't half as sad as some of the Weekend Web features that have come down the pike. At least these poor shlubs were tricked into it (which IMO makes it funny) - all the posts in the WWs were from people earnestly posting to each other. Now that's sad.

Yes, yes you did. I, however, had to look that up in the dictionary just now.

But back on topic, I reckognize that it is funny, but it depresses me more than makes me laugh. I have a similar thing with awkward situations in movies and television: I live through them with the character, and it's excrutiating. "Meet the Parents" was a painful experience.

I couldn't even bear to start it.

Back in high school, I *was* one of those romance-obsessed, head-in-the-clouds people who would have found "internet love" over an MMO so tempting. Luckily, I had some basic preservational instincts that told me never to get into it, but still...

I mean, I know people play pranks like this, but I could never do something like that to these people. I know the mentality too well.
