Well, after watching all the press conferences, seeing all the news, and looking at a bunch of the games. I can say this...
Nintendo DS: I am VERY excited about this system in the coming year. Diddy Kong Racing was announced, Phoenix Wright 2 was announced, a very large number of REALLY cool looking games were announced. Funny thing: Diddy Kong Racing is being developed by Microsoft rather than Nintendo.
Xbox 360: Microsoft definately sold me on the system at the show, I won't be getting it right away, but it is certainly going to be in my future. There were a lot of really good looking games for the system; better than PS3 by quite a bit overall. If I had an HD TV I would be getting it this summer. For now I am waiting for GTA4 which will be debuting on the system.
Spore: This game was easily my favourite game of the show. It might turn out to be my favourite game of all time. It looks excellent.
Zelda: Twilight Princess: This game looked like loads of fun, and like Spore, it's only a short distance away.
Smash Brothers Brawl: Probably the biggest surprise, the game looks quite excellent.
Red Steel: This will be the launch title to get for Wii. Dual Katana sword fighting, and a new awesome way to blow enemies away =)
MGS4: Looked really good, and I hope it is ported to Xbox 360 or PC, otherwise I won't be getting this title.
PS3: Aside from MGS4 and Heavenly Sword, nothing interesting; I can't say it was a let-down because I really was expecting this. Still though, I was expecting some sort of huge surprise that didn't come. The PS3 was much less impressive this year than it was last year.
Overall I think what the show established for me was in the next year the way to go is an Xbox 360 and Wii combo, it'll offer a very diverse gaming experience and it doesn't look like much will be missed on the PS3 which looks like it will be more than both other systems combined. Xbox 360 will offer traditional style gameplay with beefed up graphics while Wii will offer lesser graphics but an entirely new and cool way to play games; seems like a winning combo. I usually buy every system, but I don't think I will need a PS3 any time soon (if at all) with what I already plan on buying; especially for that price.
The biggest thing at the show for me had to have been Spore. That looks like a game that if it was the only game I bought in a year long period, I would be satisified.
