I don't know how the hell I missed this before, but that classic controller thing for the Wii is actually a shell and not a stand-alone remote

Like the Zapper shell, it won't actually function without the Wii-mote hooked up to it. That's what I hoped they would do and what I think is essential to the success of the Virtual Console. Plus, they could keep it cheap (to make and sell) and even sell it with the Wii-mote as a bundle.
Now the only thing they have to do is include it with the first wave of systems to make sure everyone has it. Include the original Mario Bros (not Super) as a built-in game (they won't ever make any real money out of that game) and it'll be like giving an addict their first taste of crack :-)
