Wow, just goes to fortify more than ever the idea that the likes of Shamrock and Gracie have absolutely nothing on todays fighters. Gracie just looked really weak in comparison. From the moment they locked up Matt was just out-wrestling him and overpowering him, and throwing on a brutal submission attempt, he pushed Gracie's face to the mat and started raining punches down on the back of his head. The fight almost lasted the first round.

Anyways, I am REALLY looking forward to GSP vs. Hughes. Hughes is good, but the odds will be against him in his fight against the up and comer GSP (who might just be the best in the division right now after defeating Penn).

Saw the fight too. I was amazed by how calm Gracie remained in that vicious armbar Matt got him in.

It was an action packed bout. Too bad it only last one round. I was going for Gracie who was the sentimental favorite. With age and time away taking it's toll, it's hard to tell if Hughes would have been better during Gracie's prime.

Oh well, at least Gracie says he's got some more fights in him, so this isn'tthe last we've seen. Hughes is impressive though. I'm looking forward to the fight against the guy GSP who beat Pen who had beaten Hughes. BTW, I wonder who Hughe's other three losses were to.

He lost to Dennis Hallman twice, once to a choke and once to an armbar, both losses were in under 20 seconds, really quick. I saw the fight where Hallman won by armbar, not their first fight though on the old TSN UFC show that they had a few years back before Spike got the rights to it (they just talked about the first fight, no clips). Hallman really reminded me of Tidus somehow, he looked fairly similar, flipped around a lot in his post match celebration.

As for Hughes vs. Gracie in his prime? Royce isn't good against wrestlers in general, Yoshida and Sakuraba for example. Royce is 10 years younger than Rickson (his older brother), and Rickson was still considered in his prime 10 years ago.

Are we going by old UFC rules, or today's rules?

Gracie at 25 would have been beaten almost as soundly by Matt Hughes. Round limits and an overall improved MMA class definitely put a damper on the guys Gracie beat back in the day.

I'm excited for 61, mainly because I want to see Shamrock upset Tito because he stole a win from my boy Forrest :(

Tito had an injury during the fight against Forrest, he decided to work through it. Sherdog actually found out about it before the fight, but kept it private until afterwards.

As for Ken Shamrock/Ortiz fight, it'll be an interesting one, but I don't think Ken has what it takes to get past Tito, even a Tito still working through an injury (he is probably eventually going to require surgery, or at least that is what was said earlier). On the card is also Arlovski vs. Sylvia again, I expect Arlovski to win this one.

There are two major fights rumoured, both involving Kazushi Sakuraba who just recently joined K1, one vs. Frank Shamrock, and another vs. Rickson Gracie (which I just heard about this morning). I heard Rickson was offered three million dollars for the fight. Now, if you were to ask me, I would say that Frank is has always been on a whole different level than Ken; Ken lost to Sakuraba, but I can see Frank winning. As for Rickson: Rickson may be too old now, he's about 50; but Rickson still may be the best fighter currently in the Gracie family.
